Job description

As an apprentice, you’ll earn as you learn, combining practical on-the-job training with study towards a relevant qualification. Our programmes are challenging but rewarding and you’ll be supported every step of the way to make sure you’re successful.

Your Role

Our programme is for 18 months starting 14th September 2020, combining practical on-the-job training with study towards the Level 3 International Freight Forwarding Specialist apprenticeship. The apprenticeship will teach you everything you need to know to successfully and confidently complete freight forwarding assignments, whilst being supported by your peers, your managers, and the apprenticeship team within Kuehne + Nagel.

Your Responsibilities

·  Have you ever wondered how the latest gadget you ordered arrived at your door or how the supermarket shelves are always full? The answer is through the work of an International Freight Forwarder. In the modern world of next day delivery and where the purchase of almost anything is only a click away, our International Freight Forwarding teams work all year round to plan the transportation of goods across the world by air, sea and land on behalf of our customers.
·  As part of our Air Logistics  Freight forwarding team you’ll be building relationships with our customers, other Kuehne and Nagel offices, overseas agents and service providers. You’ll be assisting and advising customers of arrival, clearances and deliveries of their goods and taking responsibility for your own operational accounts. It’s a fast paced role and your training will equip you to proactively deal with service issues, actively plan your activities and review rates to maximise profits. 
·  Your apprenticeship will include face to face workshops, one to one meetings with your personal tutor and on the job training to enable you to put into practice the skills you are learning 
·  Your working pattern will be Monday – Friday, 9am – 5.30pm

Your Skills and Experiences

·  Five GCSEs at grades 3 – 9 / A*-D (including Maths & English)
·  Right to work in the UK
·  Strong customer service & communication skills (verbal & written)
·  Strong organisational skills
·  Strong IT skills
·  Positive attitude and drive to succeed
·  A willingness to learn and a want to be the best that you can be
