Apprentice Electrician

The successful candidate vying for the post of apprentice electrician will work under the site team supervision and will be expected to perform the following duties, tasks, and responsibilities shown in the job description below:

·  Must have basic electrical knowledge such as knowing how to read a multi meter or electrical diagram.
·  Should have experience in troubleshooting lighting circuits and devices.
·  Reads, interprets, and executes drawings, schematics, blueprints, and electrical code specifications to see layout of commercial electrical equipment installations
·  Tests electrical and equipment and parts for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance
·  Installs, repairs, or replaces AC/DC motors and drives, transformers, motors, starters, relays, and hydraulic and gas electrical controls
·  Installs repairs, or replaces electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, and line assemblies, lighting, and alternative electrical parts
·  Installs, repairs, or replaces generators and industrial storage batteries
·  Do preventive maintenance and testing of electrical systems (including power distribution equipment)
·  Installs electrical circuits, as well as panels, conduit, protecting devices, switches, and equipment required to accommodate the CEC and/or NEC
·  Works on electrical failures and replaces components wherever production time is often affected
·  Corrects connections and wiring on equipment controls wherever incorrect applications may cause harm and dangerous conditions
·  Conducts preventive and maintenance programs, and keeps maintenance records
·  May install, maintain, and calibrate industrial equipment and connected devices
·  Complies with standards and procedures of industry, Safety Manual, and abide by safety rules.
·  You will be expected to document all work you are assigned so basic computer skills and some experience in Microsoft Word and Excel are required.

Must possess communication skills, self-supervision, and respect for safety needs

A self-starter that can absorb and retain knowledge.

Possess team spirit, and be able to work closely with and able to function in a large team by bringing a positive attitude to the maintenance, production, and engineering group.

Overtime work if the need arises and versatile work schedule – willing to work mid shift and over nights when required.

Must be able to climb ladders

Must have valid drivers’ license

Will require daily interaction with teams in person, on the phone, and via email in order to perform the job.

Ensure compliance of vendors with Site specific safety rules and Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Ability to effectively use computers and computer programs (including use of Microsoft Office Suite), skill in use of the internet to navigate to and use web-based applications, and ability to use handheld electronic devices (computer, cell phone, etc.).

Possess excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.

3 years’ experience preferred

Must be able to pass a background check including drug screen and MVR report
