Job description



Responsibilities

The Lighting Tech/Electrician keeps equipment and facilities in compliance with regulatory standards and in good working order.  Repairs, installations, and scheduled maintenance are performed on building utility systems, production utilities, lab spaces, office areas, building & utility monitoring systems, and more.  Assignments may be moderately complex in nature where judgment is required in solving problems and making recommendations.

Duties include:

·  Complete corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance work requests on facility and GMP equipment.  Monitor and Operate equipment.  Wire single and three phase motors, Install, repair, and maintain switching mechanisms, VFDs, motor controls, & HMI systems; run conduit; pull wire, etc. Equipment includes: HP Boilers, steam system, RODI, WFI, HVAC, CDA, CIP systems, Spray dryers, Laminar Flow hoods, Filling equipment, Glass washers, Isolators, plumbing, electrical systems (UPS, generators, switch gear, automatic switches, etc.), various control systems, industrial light and power distribution systems, panels, variable frequency drives, complex circuit breaking units, transformer units, substations, alarms and much more.
·  Use of SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) diagrams, operating manuals, manufacturer’s instructions and engineering specifications to operate systems, complete thorough repairs, and perform maintenance on the facility and GMP equipment.
·  Read and interpret blue prints, wiring diagrams and schematic drawings
·  Plan and organize work, interact with clients, maintenance staff to determine the best approach to completion of assignments in a safe, environmentally compliant manner.
·  Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating all irregularities and adjustments
·  Complete written documentation of all work using the CMMS (Maximo) system
·  Communicate status of work orders and work assignments to customers and supervisor.
·  Be knowledgeable of, and continuously promote safe work practices - work in a safe manner at all times
·  Complete training requirements as defined in training plan
·  Maintain technical knowledge by attending education workshops, reviewing technical publications, and establishing personal networks
·  Assist with improvement projects and perform other duties as directed
·  Train new maintenance personnel as necessary
·  Able to provide off-hours emergency maintenance coverage

Education

·  High School graduate and / or 6 + years of work experience in the electrical trade at Journeyman level.
·  Minimum of 4 years troubleshooting industrial mechanical and electrical systems
·  Demonstrated proficiency (through examination or work experience)

Skills

·  Ability, skills and knowledge to use a variety of electrical testing instruments and apparatus
·  Maintain knowledge of and compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, SOP's, NFPA 40E, and work instructions as required
·  Obtain and maintain all required licensing and certifications associated with the position
·  Experience and training in reactive, preventative and predictive maintenance of all electrical equipment with journeyman status in the craft
·  Demonstrated proficiency (through examination or work experience)
·  Familiar with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) environments and requirements
·  Good communication skills (oral and written)

Physical Requirements :

·  Able to adequately perform required job functions.  This includes being able to lift, bend and move in such a way as to perform job tasks in a safe and approved manner.
·  Able to operate required hand/power tools, test instrumentation and equipment required by this trade in a safe and approved manner.

Environmental Conditions:

Employees will be required to follow all safety procedures and use personal protective clothing/ Equipment where specified.
