LAB SERVICES:  Procurement Technician

RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL:

Under general supervision, perform Laboratory Services support functions for the customer’s R&D community.  This position is responsible for the execution of order fulfillment tasks and supplier and vendor service delivery associated with supporting Laboratory Services activities in pharmaceutical research environment.  Support Procurement and Sourcing professionals by regularly engaging supplier orders and services. Work will be performed in accordance with JLL and client’s policies and procedures.  The Lab Services Procurement Tech should have industry knowledge of general duties and responsibilities of ordering and purchasing of goods and services supporting research.  Interact with customers, suppliers, and collaborate with colleagues to maintain successful partnerships.  Perform other Laboratory Services duties as required and as directed.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

Primary responsibilities and cross-training opportunities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Utilizing client and JLL systems (Ariba, E-1 and others,) fulfill orders for the purchase of goods and services supporting client research.  Understanding of industry practice for ordering goods and services, supporting JLL and client procurement guidelines. Dealing with key vendors to ensure uninterrupted supply of chemicals, reagents, pre-mix media and their components, solvents, dry ice, bottled gases and other chemical and biological products specified and requested by researchers. Support inventory management to assure order fulfillment and on-hand quantities meet site requirements Communicate with management regarding completion of customer order requests. Manage stock of critical gases as per site requirements.  Communicate with management and end-users regarding backup stock locations. Fulfill internal/external chemical requests submitted by the customers. Maintain stockroom inventories according to the thresholds determined by customers’ stockroom manager(s). Communicate with customers and/or shipping department to schedule inter-site and intra-site shipments of materials. Communicate with supervisor regarding supply stock, material needs, software upgrades, etc. Support chemical stockroom, laboratory supply stockroom, and site inventories. Comply with all regulations and documentation while performing services in applicable areas. Collect and supply metrics as required by management. Provide documentation as needed. Maintain a safe and clean working environment within the laboratory and office. Performs other duties within Lab Services department as requested by management. Comply with all JLL and customer company policies and procedures, and adheres to JLL company standards.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Business or a technical field preferred; work experience equivalent acceptable. Experience in ordering goods and services preferred. Prior experience in a regulated environment such as the pharmaceutical, medical device, or other Life Science industry preferred. Prior experience with Ariba & TRACE software preferred. Experience and competency with Microsoft Office is required. Comply with all safety standards and policies required for site, department, and job function. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work with management, suppliers, customers, and employees at all levels within an organization. Must be a team player committed to working in a safe, high-performance, and quality-driven environment.
