Instrumentation Technician – Thousand Oaks, CA

Job Description

The Instrument Technician is responsible for performing / providing calibration, installation, troubleshooting and documentation of instrumentation / equipment used in manufacturing & utility plants and GMP production facilities as required.  All work to be completed to ensure minimal impact to production while complying with regulatory and Company regulations.

Job Expectations:
Calibrate utility, process and laboratory equipment instrumentation such as:  temperature, pressure, flow and pH sensors, transmitters and incubators; incubators; freezers; balances; indicators; etc.
Ensure that calibration paperwork, work order documentation and all other documentation is completed promptly and accurately.
Complete all work in accordance with CFRs, cGMPs, SOPs, and Company policies, procedures and practices.
Maintain an up to date cGMP training record.
Raise the bar of your performance by taking ownership of your continuous improvement and assisting other staff members in raising the bar on their performance.
Maintain an on-going two-way performance dialogue with assigned manager.
Notify assigned manager of any training needs and advise he/she of any factors impacting your ability to perform.
Liaise with the Planning & Scheduling team to perform and complete all planned work at the scheduled time.
Perform all other maintenance and maintenance-related tasks as directed.
Identify potential problems and make adjustments to correct, or otherwise troubleshoot, formulate and execute solutions for corrective repair.
Comply with all company policies, procedures and practices.
Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.

Job Requirements 

Basic Qualifications:

Safety first attitude required.  Ability to perform all work using the proper personnel protective equipment (PPE) and in strict accordance with all applicable safety policies, procedures and practices required.

High school diploma required.

A minimum of 2-4 years of direct experience in instrumentation/calibration related work required.

Demonstrated aptitude for, and/or practical experience with, instruments, electrical and/or mechanical systems, as well as computer controlled equipment, required.

Ability to read and understand technical documents such as operating manuals and architectural / mechanical / electrical / P&ID drawings required.

Ability to troubleshoot, systematically identify, analyze and solve maintenance problems required.

Ability to work in cramped spaces such as closets, crawl spaces, attics, vaults, etc. required.

Ability to sit for extended periods of time required.

Ability to walk a large, campus-like setting, climb stairs, work on a ladder, carry tools, lift and carry 50 pound loads, operate a motor vehicle and navigate rooftops to access equipment required.

Valid U.S. drivers license and clean driving record required.

Excellent communication and customer service skills required.

Ability to work overtime, including some weekends, required.  Shift work may be required.

Subject to call 24 hours per day and working in all weather conditions required.

Ability to work effectively as both an individual contributor and valued team member required.

Ability to effectively organize, prioritize and multi-task work assignments required.

Basic computer skills, including a working knowledge of MS Office programs, required.

Ability to accurately and thoroughly complete GMP documentation and fully comply with all applicable policies, procedures and practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a cGMP environment preferred.
Experience working with established GMP procedures in the calibration and maintenance of utility, process and lab equipment preferred.
Experience with computer programming and/or programmable logic controllers preferred.

Experience with building automation systems preferred.

Experience with multi-site building operations preferred.
Experience working with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System - Maximo) preferred.
