Job description

Intern:  Sacred Heart University iHub

Opportunity

In 2017 Sacred Heart University (SHU) acquired the former GE headquarters which was renovated in 2019, to create the new “West Campus.” With this significant expansion, Sacred Heart has entered a new era of serving students and preparing them for work in the 21st century. In August 2019, the newly named Welch College of Business & Technology (WCBT) moved into West Campus. By combining the disciplines of business with those of computer science and engineering, and moving them all together under one roof, SHU West Campus is the ideal environment for students to learn how to thrive in business in the digital age.

Sacred Heart University partnered with Verizon to launch a student-faculty-business alliance focused on providing students with real-world working experiences at the newly developed innovation Hub (iHUB). The space offers hot desks, offices, conference rooms, and amenities managed by a full-time community manager. Filled with ideas floating in the air, this vibrant space brings business and academia closer with on-site internships and partnerships. This unique co-working setup will be a hub for innovation on our West Campus and the local community.

We are looking for 4 interns who can work alongside the existing Community Manager to help build a close-knit community where people can enjoy collaborating while working. Community Managers typically meet and greet newcomers with a welcoming smile, oversee social events, create a collaborative environment and work to make each member feel at ease. This will be a fantastic opportunity for a student to work directly with the iHub Community Manager and Verizon to execute the iHub’s objectives. This includes:

·  Provides a smile and energy to members and visitors alike and fosters 'spontaneous' interactions that help member companies grow
·  Evangelize the iHub to fellow students and faculty

Graphic Designer

·  Create visual aspects of marketing materials, websites and other media, including infographics
·  Put together elements of a design for posters and other marketing materials to support all events held at the iHub
