Building Maintenance Mechanic

Job Summary

Operates, inspects, and maintains main facilities/utilities systems at site.  Assures that systems are being maintained reliable to reduce down time to a minimum. Performs inspections and repairs to assigned property at interior and exterior areas.  Individual is expected to demonstrate technical expertise in GxP Environment, HVAC/R, Electrical, P&ID’s, Automated systems, Waste Water systems, Vacuum systems, Air Compressors, Purified water systems, Heat Exchangers, etc.

Area of Responsibility

·  Maintenance
·  Performance of preventive maintenances, corrective maintenances, and complex troubleshooting.
·  Support small projects and establishes and maintains close liaison with outside vendors to facilitate quality, cost-effective delivery of services. 
·  Understand and become familiar with the various items of equipment, and the methods required to use them properly, that are required in everyday activities.
·  Conducts periodic inspections/audits of departmental facilities, laboratories and utilities.
·  Complete all other duties and tasks assigned.
·  Safety
·  Complete Hazard Assessments as necessary.
·  Comply with all safety procedures.
·  Recognize safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them.
·  Escalate risks throughout the organization appropriately.
·  Maintain compliance to State, County, or City Ordinances, Codes, or Laws.
·  Must complete all required safety trainings as scheduled.

·  Administrative
·  Ensures that appropriate documentation is completed and submitted.
·  Utilize CMMS systems for all work performed.
·  Attend work and safety meetings as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

·  Education/training
·  High School Diploma or technical diploma and seven (7) years of equivalent work experience.
·  Associate Degree and five (5) years of experience.
·  Years of relevant experience
·  Minimum of five (5) years of technical experience in all aspects of building engineering with a strong background in the technical aspects of HVAC/R, Electrical, Utilities, GxP Laboratories, Water System and Waste Systems.
·  Other abilities
·  Strong Customer Service skills
·  Strong Interpersonal skills
·  Working knowledge of computer applications including Outlook, Word and Excel
·  Building Management System
·  Vendor management

·  Certifications/licenses
·  Preferred Licenses as: Waste Water, Refrigeration, Electrical, etc.

·  Physical work requirements and work conditions
·  Physical Work Requirements:
·  Lifting up to 50 lbs.
·  Working from heights.
·  Frequently climbing, bending, lifting, kneeling, stooping, and working/extending overhead.
·  Working in adverse conditions (i.e., extreme cold, extreme hot).
·  Climbing a ladder up to 20 feet.
·  Must be available for Call-in work and perform other duties as required.
