Job description



System Administrators are the gatekeepers to the many systems that run our company and our clients. As a System Admin with IBM, you will have the opportunity to provide high-value IT services and leverage our leading-edge technology portfolio in our global network. Your work has a direct impact on the day-to-day productivity of our business by ensuring integrity of, and access to, our most important resource: data.

The System Administrator will:

- Perform provisioning and administration for purpose-built IT systems using primarily open source software
- Installs new software releases and system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems.
- Performs system backups and recovery.
- Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity.
- Requires a combination of consulting skills and integration experience to assist the team in the implementation and support of the integrated solution.
- Creating Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) which is part of the internal technical documentation of Sys Admin team.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

- Strong technical expertise and hands-on support experience with
SuSE Linux and Ret Hat Operating Systems > +5 years of minimum experience.
- Solid working knowledge of TCP/IP networking protocols, routing
principles and network security (VLANs, routing, firewalls, subnetting)
- Familiarity with server virtualization technologies and hypervisor management tools(e.g. VMware, OVM)
- Familiarity with SAN/storage concepts (LUNs, HBAs), logical volume management, NFS, GPFS.
- Working knowledge of OS security best practices.
- Experience configuring/managing/updating large groups of servers
- Familiarity with Red Hat and Suse Cluster Services
- Knowledge of DevOps concepts and best practices
- Experience with cloud technologies supports, and, Incident, Problem and Change Management (must require previous experiences with investigations for Root Cause Analysis (RCA).)
- Working knowledge of Tivoli Storage Manager and backup operations
- Strong English oral/written communication skills

- Certifications such as LFCS, LFCE, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Linux+, RHCSA or RHCE are a plus.
- Technical expertise and hands-on support experience with AIX Operating System.
- Skills in automating repetitive processes via scripting (bash, python, perl, ruby).
