Technical Writer - Internship (Markham, ON)

Job description

This position resides in Markham , Ontario and is a 16-month work term commencing May 2020. It is mandatory that all applicants are enrolled in full-time studies at a post-secondary institution and returning to full-time studies upon completing of the work term.

The candidate will be responsible for designing and developing customer documentation for our product portfolio. The successful candidate will quickly gain a sound theoretical and hands-on understanding of the technical details and produce documentation that delights our customers. You will also advise the development team on style and language use within the product. The media that you will use can cover a broad spectrum, including traditional text, product embedded help, guided tours, graphics, and videos.

This role will involve working with technology that is covered by Export Regulations sanctions. If you are a Foreign National from any of the following US sanctioned countries (Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria) on a work permit, you are not eligible for employment in this position.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

·  Strong written and oral communication skills
·  Familiarity with writing and editing content for different types of users - End Users, Administrators, Developers
·  Ability to grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable
·  Proficiency in content authoring, graphics design, and multimedia tools including DITA XML, Adobe Illustrator, Camtasia, MS Office, Notepad ++, and a screen capture tool like Hypersnap.
·  Familiarity with software development lifecycle in an Agile development environment.
