Job description
IBM Research is seeking a Software Engineer to work at its Thomas J. Watson lab in Yorktown Heights, NY.
You will design, implement and deploy high availability solutions in the IBM Hybrid cloud environment. Must be familiar with all infrastructure components including virtual machines, bare metal devices, GPUs, storage, networking and data center architecture.
Your experience should include working with Hybrid cloud teams to develop and order hardware and software components, proven communication and presentation skills, and ability to establish and maintain partnerships.
Responsibilities include:
· Bridge gap between applications development and IT operations by using DevOps concepts and tools for configuration management and automation
· Drives Engineering and Operations Excellence
· Develop hardware architecture technology roadmaps and drive adherence to industry best practices
· Drives IT capability improvements through optimization, enhancements and implementation of new features and functions
· Continuously Improves and Enhances Existing Environments
· Maintains proper hardware and software currency levels by implementing recommended upgrades
· Collects data, then supplies it to engineering peer teams for analysis and data driven recommendations and decision making
· Deliver Infrastructure Solutions and Services
· Designs standard patterned and custom IT solutions for business partner projects, including pre-production testing, performance tuning, hand-offs and environment validation
Bachelor's degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering, or a related area is required.
