Job description

The Weather Company, an IBM Business, is seeking a Privacy Analyst to assess privacy challenges throughout our products and collaborate on solutions to ensure the trust of our customers. This analyst will help ensure that we understand our data flows end-to-end from source through offering. They will work with stakeholders across the company to help de-risk product development, assess privacy risks, and create roadmaps to attain and maintain compliance with privacy legislation. This person will be a Privacy SME serving as a consultant to our product teams as they strategize our privacy features and systems. Additionally, they will assist in creating technical and operational controls around privacy concerns.

You will be part of a group with a passion for the changing privacy landscape and for protecting user data. The Data Governance and Privacy team ensures the execution of our Data and Privacy strategy aligns with internal and external controls, laws, regulations, etc. The team focuses on the way we govern, protect, and use data is responsible and transparent so that it becomes a strategic asset. The team sets strategy and policy at the enterprise level and support each business unit on the execution.

This individual should have strong analytical skills with a passion for solving complex business problems. The candidate has a variety of communication tools in their toolbelt and a strong attention to detail. They will have a keen interest in the evolving landscape of privacy and hunger to continuously learn. As a bonus, this candidate would have experience in the digital industry and/or a working knowledge of current privacy legislation.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Analyse, assess, and create organization solutions as privacy legislation evolves to meet compliance expectations

Collaborate with and support technical and business stakeholders across the organization on compliance related efforts

Collaborate with other privacy stakeholders to promote efficient execution and improve workflow.

Establish collaborative process to facilitate integration of privacy controls into organization processes

Perform continuous monitoring activities comparing privacy controls to legislation and corporate guidelines
Support the DGP team with identifying industry best practices for implementing processes and procedures to aid in the adoption/ of privacy controls

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Bachelor's degree (preferably an analytical disciple such as engineering/logistics/technical writing/MBA)

3+ years of experience working in an Analytical role with a technology driven organization

1 + plus years of Data Privacy experience (GDPR or other data privacy work)

Excellent communication skills: both verbal and written

Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced IT environment, where willingness to learn and adapt is critical
Excellent prioritization capabilities, with an aptitude for breaking down work into manageable parts, effectively assessing the priority and time required to complete each part

Demonstrated ability to work in a cross organizational capacity with all role types (developer, product manager, executives, etc)

Knowledge of industry trends, direction and best practices in domain areas of responsibility
