Mainframe Systems Programmer - WMQ for z/OS

Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Development and maintenance of required documentation in WIKI, WORD, POWERPOINT, and EXCEL
• WMQ problem determination and resolution
• Build, troubleshooting and changing scheduled jobs and following the customer's hand over procedures
• WMQ back-up and recovery in z/OS and server environment
• WMQ installation and migration in z/OS and server environment
• WMQ performance and tuning
• WMQ problem analysis and problem resolution
• Development, maintenance, and optimization of central processes in customer environments
• Creation, maintenance, and optimization of customized installation packages
• Support of the planning, configuration, and migration of WMQ systems in a large, international installation with multiple locations in a multi-customer environment
• Oral and written communication with management
• Readiness to work nights and weekends - As required
• Technical lead in migration and Release or Version change projects - As required
• Participation in customer projects - As required
• Configuration Management and Change Control Procedures – As required
• Troubleshooting software failures, including contact and support of the IBM software service request system (PMR)

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• At least 5 years of specialized experience with IBM's WMQ
• Expert knowledge of WMQ V7.1 for z/OS (in data sharing and non-data sharing environment)
• Expert knowledge of WMQ V7.5 for UNIX/Windows
• Expert knowledge of Tivoli for WMQ
• Expert knowledge of JCL, ISPF skills and macros, CLIST and REXX
• Expert knowledge of UNIX/Windows scripting
• Good verbal and written English communication skills
