The z/OS Security Organization is part of IBM Z Systems which is a leading-edge technology for managing data, interfacing with Cloud technologies, providing system solutions and hardware enablement that power the most secure and reliable system on the planet. Time Sharing Option/Extensions (TSO/E) is a base component of z/OS which allows users to create an interactive session with the system. TSO provides a single-user logon capability and a basic command prompt interface to z/OS. In general, TSO makes it easier for people with varying levels of experience to interact with the z/OS system.

As a L3 Software Engineer, your main duties will involve analyzing incoming defects from our L2 Support team, investigating to determine root cause, resolving the defects accordingly and shipping quality fixes to clients in a timely fashion.
Responsibilities
·  Investigating deep enough into the issue to determine root cause and next steps
·  Designing, coding and unit testing of defect fixes
·  Packaging and shipment of temporary and official fixes using the required tools
·  Communicating workarounds, defect status, root causes and recommendations to other internal teams, and clients
·  Ensuring defects are resolved within established time frames based on the priorities assigned
·  Interfacing with other teams and occasionally clients to gather additional information
·  Working in collaboration with other groups and teams daily
·  Understanding our internal development infrastructure and best practices
·  Potential to work on product development when defect inventory allows
·  Practicing Lean and Agile development principles.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

·  At least 3 years' experience in software engineering
·  Have working knowledge in the following languages: Assembler and PL/X
·  Have a basic knowledge of z/OS concepts and debugging methods
·  You thrive on collaboration, working side by side with people of all backgrounds and disciplines, and have very strong verbal and written communication skills
·  You are good at solving problems, debugging, troubleshooting, designing and implementing solutions to complex technical issues
·  You are motivated and have a passion for supporting and creating great products
