Job description

This position is for the development and support of IBM's Scalable Architecture for Financial Reporting (SAFR) based in Perth. SAFR is high-speed mainframe transaction processing software that is supported by teams in the US and Australia (Perth). It consists of three main pieces: a Java / Eclipse-based user interface, a C++ based compiler, and an assembler based mainframe processing engine.
The role is responsible for developing and maintaining the Java / Eclipse-based user interface and compiler. Responsibilities include new development, troubleshooting, bug fixing, and communicating appropriately with the US-based team and IBM clients.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

User interface

Java programming at least 4 years experience including
- experience writing unit tests.
- experience with three tier architectures (UI, Model, Data)
- an understanding of continuous integration

Relational databases and SQL including
- writing a database definition
- writing stored procedures.
- writing complex SQL statements

Compiler

C++ development experience of at least 2 years.
XML design, reading, and writing.
Relational databases and SQL, using from C++

Eclipse RCP both 3 and 4 versions of the API
JNI (Java native interface for talking to the compiler)
C++ to help debug problems in the compiler that only occur in the workbench.
