Digital Designer (Montreal)
Internship Montréal (Agglomération de Montréal)
Job description
Our Story:
We are a hybrid consulting agency. We think bigger than an agency and more creatively than a consultancy with the power to integrate the whole digital system. We are IBM iX: one of the largest digital agency networks in the world and leader in Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Global Digital Marketing Agencies.
We are renegades and realists who blend strategy, technology and creativity to tackle every client challenge. We imagine the businesses that will shape tomorrow's world and help our clients make them real. We uncover insights from data that others can't see and deliver progressive ideas through the use of IBM Design Thinking. We ground every strategy with a focus on delivering the ultimate experience – for customers, for employees, for shareholders. Everything we do drives measurable impact at scale. The Gig:
The Digital Designer will create world-class user experiences and user interface visuals that support and reinforce our vision for exceptional user experiences. You'll embrace the challenge of turning complex data into great visual design, translating wireframes into beautiful, compelling interfaces, and creating rewarding experiences for both internal stakeholders and clients. Your visual designs will intersect the next frontier of UI, interplaying with voice, gesture, and natural language. You'll be involved in the end-to-end design process, charged with designing the visual user experience, while working on a cross-functional team of designers, developers, and strategists. Every engagement presents different demands and opportunities, so you'll need the flexibility to shift focus and work on anything from findings reports and sales presentations, to schematics and prototypes. As a Digital Designer, you thrive in an Agile development environment and manage your time and scope effectively to fit tasks into quick development sprints.
Also known as: Visual Designer, UI Designer, Creative Designer, UI Expert, UI Artist
Who You Are:
You're multi-talented: you can produce storyboards, layouts, comps, presentations, graphics, data visualizations, and other design artifacts and have a portfolio to show this.
You're a design geek: you're passionate about typography, data visualization, and user experience.
You're a visionary: You are eager to bring your visual design skills to the enterprise, creating design systems that are modular, repeatable and informed by best practices.
You're collaborative: you work with user experience designers, design researchers and developers to ensure visual design enhances the overall user experience.
You're an artist with a technical flare: you clearly outline experiences from screen to screen and work with front-end development to define and deliver motion and visual designs.
You're a design champion: you defend design choices using previous user research, heuristics and usability standards.
You're able to produce quick, low-fidelity sketches and sleek, high fidelity visuals on tight schedules.
You're a branding guru: you demonstrate knowledge of best practices in typography, color theory and iconography and can work with brand and design guidelines.
You're an ambivert: working independently when needed and collaborating on cross-functional teams throughout the development process.
You're an artist through-and-through: you're fluent in relevant industry design tools such as Sketch, InVision, Axure, Omnigraffle, Justinmind, Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud and Adobe Experience.
You're part designer, part researcher: you are able to create click-through prototypes to test and validate working hypothesis with users, and incorporate user feedback into designs.
You bring experience: you have a minimum of 3 years of experience creating user-centered designs for large scale websites and/or applications and mobile platforms.
Kudos:
You're passionate about keeping current with industry trends in all things experience design, technology, development, visual design, extended reality and applying these to your designs.
You know how to leverage your digital marketing and advertising agency or start-up experience to IBM iX.
Why You'll Thrive in IBM iX:
You build strategies around user experience, and then execute on your own advice.
You are able to leverage our eco-system partnerships like Apple, Twitter, Box and The Weather Company to accelerate innovation.
You can apply IBM Design Thinking that starts with a design-forward, user-centered process, followed by fully agile-enabled delivery.
You co-create great individual experiences with our clients, leveraging IBM's industry knowledge and design expertise.
You can network across IBM iX. You understand that you have the horsepower of IBM's Global Services behind you, the world's largest consulting services organization.
Why You'll Love IBM iX:
At the intersection of strategy, creativity and technology, we tackle the biggest business challenge: tomorrow. We're consultants and artists, makers and technologists, visionaries and strategists. Together, we co-create with our clients to do things that matter.
An entrepreneurial, team-focused culture, with constructive feedback and continuous learning opportunities, including leadership development through IBM's Leadership Academy.
Comprehensive benefits and flexible work arrangements. A rigorous focus on employee well-being and inclusion. We continue to expand our benefits and programs, offering some of the best support, guidance and coverage for a diverse employee population.
