We are seeking a BEOL Integration engineer, who can work in IBM Research at CNSE (College of Nanoscale Science & Engineering) in Albany, NY on the research and development of advanced logic technologies. The main responsibility of the position is to lead the development of novel processes and integration of them in order to build innovative interconnect structures that can demonstrate desired performance benefit and yields of devices at scaled dimensions for future semiconductor technology. In this role, you will collaborate with other individuals and functional teams to move your hardware forward, address issues and finally deliver the end results. You will be in charge of creating your experimental plan, executing hardware, analyze data, and reporting your results to broader team. As a researcher, you will also be responsible to investigate the problems and understand fundamentally to come up with solutions to overcome the issues. The progresses of work will be regularly communicated with the broader team and sometimes the learning will be published depending on the value for the industry.

BEOL Integration engineer's responsibilities include but are not limited to the following;
• Design and conduct experiments by running Si hardware to optimize the integration of the processes
• Follow up the progresses of the hardware to ensure desirable outcome
• Analyze the data to determine best conditions to optimize the process
• Identify issues and recommend solutions to improve performance
• Evaluate the performance and reliability of the interconnect scheme
• Design macros and circuits to evaluate new interconnect scheme
• Create IPs and publish learning

You should have one or more of the following skills:
• Research & Development
o Strong understanding in device physics of semiconductor
o In-depth knowledge of interconnect technologies (MOL/BEOL/FBEOL)
o In-depth knowledge in packaging of semiconductor devices
o Strong understanding of fabrication processes and tools
o Strong analytical skill to interpret physical/electrical data
o Skills in using SWs for Design of Experiment
o Hands on experience in computer aided numerical analysis and modeling such as TCAD and emulation
o Hands on experience in using layout tools for basic circuit design

• Hardware execution
o Hands on experience in running lots in advanced semiconductor fab environment
o Hands on experience in using operation SW for creating/manipulating of process routes and data collection
o Hands on experience in electrical characterization of devices
o Strong skills in failure analysis with in-line/offline metrology tools for defect contro
l
• Communication & Collaboration
o Effective communication with others
o High level organization skill for oral presentation
o Strong analytical and literacy skills to draft manuscript for publication
o Experience in collaborating with people in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment
