Job description

IBM Research is looking for a Research Scientist Student to join the AI Applications research team. Our charter is to find new ways for enterprises to improve their businesses using optimization and AI technologies, and we are looking for someone who is passionate about learning new things and incubating new ideas.

As a Research Scientist Student in Research, you will help us advance and create state-of-the-art technologies and solutions using Optimization and AI technologies. You will work both on publishing new theories and on applying them to real world problems.

Responsibilities
·  Assist in the design and development of models and algorithms using optimization and AI
·  Participate in filing patents and publishing the results of your work in leading scientific journals and conferences
·  Advocate for your ideas and collaborate with other research scientists to design the best solution

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

·  Studying toward M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or other related discipline
·  Ability to implement algorithms and models
·  Proficiency in at least one major programming language: C/C++, C#, Java, Python, etc.
·  Strong communication skills and ability to work in collaborative, team environment
·  Experience in linear programming, integer programming, reinforcement learning, and/or deep reinforcement learning is desirable
