Java Engineer – FX Technology

Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC's global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world's leading international bank.

Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.

We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world from our offices at the Bluefin Building in Southwark, our global headquarters in Canary Wharf, and multiple other locations around the UK including Sheffield, Leeds, Barnsley and Birmingham.

Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion throughout 2019 and beyond, we are currently seeking a number of experienced Developer / Java Analyst Programmer to join HSBC Technology.

The FX business is a key component within HSBC's Global Banking and Markets division.

What you will be doing;

The position is held within the River Risk development team. The team is responsible for delivering a bespoke in-house intraday risk management system for the Global Banking and Markets FX business.

This is a front office DevOps role, and is an ideal role for a talented, enthusiastic and dedicated Java software engineer with exceptional core Java skills. FX knowledge an advantage, but not essential.

Qualifications :

What you will bring to the role;

To be successful in this role you should have proven experience within the Technology sector with knowledge of the following skills:

· 
Can demonstrate outstanding Java 7+ skills (Concurrency, data structures, lock-free, wait free code, low latency)

· 
Experience with REST and messaging technologies

· 
Understanding of structure and mechanics of FX products – is advantageous

· 
Aware of the latest DevOps practices, and experience of working in an agile team.

· 
Strong understanding and experience of profiling and performance tuning Java code.

· 
Familiar with TDD, Continuous Integration, jUnit, continuous deployment and testing

· 
Interest and experience in a wide range of technologies and best practices surrounding core Java developments.

·
