Role Title: Fixed Income Operations Analyst

Role Purpose
· The primary responsibility of the Fixed Income Operations team is to manage the trade capture, allocation, confirmation and settlement processes and associated risks across a wide number of markets, for both cash bonds and repos. The team also support the settlement of primary issuance for the Debt Capital Markets group. The team is also supported by off shore staff in KL and Manila.
· Key deliverables of this role include the following:
· Manage the day to day Triparty obligations across various agents and markets, for Fixed Income and Equity inventory pools.
· Monitoring firm inventory levels across different markets and liaising with the business to ensure sufficient collateral levels are met.
· Working with the Collateral Treasury business to deliver new Triparty initiatives
· Ensure adherence to the Security Ops control framework including weekly risk and control reporting, month end SOX sign off and adherence to the escalation matrix. Support the ‘manage by metrics' culture.
· Provide support and guidance to the offshore teams in KL and Manila and operate a ‘one team' approach to problem solving and workload balancing.
· Develop strong relationships with external client base and strive to delivery excellent client service at all times to priority clients.
· Contribute to the culture of process improvement through driving small projects and enhancements.
· Work closely with the Front Office and Product Control to minimise operational losses in the Fixed Income function.

· Appropriate escalation and incident capture.

Major Challenges
· To ensure all key risk items are under investigation, cleared, narrated, and escalated as appropriate- to continue to develop the escalation matrix model and enhance as appropriate including operational losses, provisions and write offs.
· Support off shore centres in line with Fixed Income Global Service Centre strategy
· Ongoing risk management of the support function, maintaining a low operating risk model and ensuring appropriate escalation in place.
· Ongoing process improvements – technical and process. Support Change prioritisation, CPI initiatives and alignment to TOM.
· Ensure that all process improvement initiatives have a clear cost/benefit articulation and realisation of benefit through implementation.
· Continue the build of the risk and control environment, through education and training for Fixed Income Ops including attendance for the mandated Risk and Control courses.
· Develop a fungible team with the appropriate skill sets across product and systems
· Nurture and enhance Business and Operations Management relationships
· Offer support for important new business initiatives and new markets in line with Emerging Market focus.

· Ongoing day to day support and guidance from direct line manager
· Strong support and guidance from the Fixed Income senior management team.
· Strong working relationships with peers in Fixed Income Operations globally.
· Strong working relationships with Front Office, Product Control and IT.
· Ensure appropriate daily sign off for area roles and responsibilities.

· Is aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.

Observation of Internal Controls

· Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
· Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.

Qualifications :

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications
·  Strong knowledge of the Repo and Stock Loan products with in-depth understanding of the Triparty product and its various uses.
·  Strong understanding of the Fixed Income Business for Trade Support, Client Support and Settlements.
·  Working knowledge of Collateral management and an understanding of the impacts of the upcoming IOSCO BCBS Margin requirements.
·  Strong, diverse cross market knowledge
·  Strong understanding of risk and control
·  Strong interpersonal skills
·  Ability to problem solve, articulate requirements and escalate.
·  Strong teamwork skills
·  Strong written and verbal communication skills
·  Proven ability to identify and then drive through change.
