The Financial Accountant role is related to the Alternative business within Asset Management, and will be supporting the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO).

The role of the Financial Accountant is to ensure the accurate and timely reporting of financial data for both internal and external purposes. This includes the month end close process, ensuring appropriate accruals are made for management fees and related expenses, balance sheet reviews and substantiations, Group reporting, VAT and FCA reporting, and the preparation of year end statutory accounts. The role holder will also be involved in projects, such as the implementation of new systems and other IFRS related changes. The role holder must be highly self-motivated, able to review other peoples work, work independently and to deliver change in a challenging environment. The person needs to be fast learner with ambition to progress their career within HSBC. At a later stage the role holder will also get the opportunity to get to know the financial accounting of other entities within Asset Management, giving them exposure to different business models and processes.

Your responsibilities will include:

· Preparing management fee income and expense calculations
· Preparing balance sheet reconciliations
· Performing month end close
· Review monthly P&L and BS before closing the books to ensure accuracy
· Preparation of analytical reviews of month end results. Ensure that the results are well understood by business finance counterparts
· Preparation and review of statutory accounts
· Maintain a robust Financial Control and reconciliation function
· Liaise with the business to ensure the accounting reflects accurately and timely business developments
· Work independently to improve processes and find solutions to problems

Qualifications :

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

·  Relevant professional accountancy qualification
·  Experience in asset management (private equity, real estate or hedge fund experience is desirable but not required), financial services, audit or private wealth management
·  Excellent knowledge of IFRS
·  Past working experience on relevant systems, i.e. Oracle, FTP, TM1, CODA, Saracen/Hyperion or Tableau is desirable but not essential
·  Proven experience of motivating others to deliver exceptional performance and long terms results
·  Self-awareness with confidence to work independently and take responsibility for own development
·  Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered
·  Built effective networks across business areas, developing relationships based on mutual trust and encouraging others to do the same
