Role Purpose

· This is a role for a Data Test Analyst within a Data Management Team.
· The role will involve working within a large Data Management Team that has a high turnover of change based on requirements from consuming teams across an Asset Management business.

Major Challenges

· The main responsibilities for this role will be as follows:
· Analysis – the candidate must have the ability to interpret project documentation into expected outcome. It is required that using documentation the candidate would be able to engage with the project team and discuss the deliverable. This would then feed into their ability to create accurate and credible test scripts and scenarios.
· Documentation – the candidate must be able to produce test documentation expected by the Project(s). Documentation would Include High Level Test Plans Test Scripts and Scenarios and Test Completion Reports.
· Meetings – the candidate must be confident to attend and in some cases chair project and test meetings where they will be expected to speak out to the other attendees regarding the test phase of the project.
· Test Definitions – a key requirement of this role for the candidate is the ability to articulate test scenarios within a test tool – the HSBC tool used is Quality Centre. These test scenarios or scripts must not only be rich in information they must also be of such quality that they can be transferable to another member of the team. The candidate must also be able to understand the breadth of the testing needed across a deliverable and to make risk assessments regarding what testing is essential for the change or function to be deemed fit for purpose.
· Understanding of what is expected – the candidate must be able to use the project documentation and other member of the project team to gain enough of an understanding of the change or new function that an estimate of test effort can be made.
· Defect Management - it is expected that the candidate has the ability to manage the defect list for the project that they are aligned too. Chasing for answers, fixes and retests by team members where required.
· Communication – the candidate must have excellent communication skills. The ability to ask questions when something is not clear, challenge when there is a need to challenge and answer questions with confidence is essential in this role.
· Test Execution – the candidate must have the ability to execute tests based on their own review and test scripts. There may also be times where they would need to execute another member of the team's tests confidently and in line with the defined descriptions.

Role Context

· The role resides in the Data Management Team, reporting directly to the Data Management Test Manager.
· There are a number of effective projects within the Data Team currently. Initially the successful candidate of this role will be involved with the projects enhancing the Security Master System and Investment Data System. Working very closely with the HSBC Project Teams and the Vendor teams for delivery. Communication is key within these teams and the successful candidate will be heavily involved with the analysis phases as well as the test execution and resolution phases. Daily duties will be providing updates on progress, highlighting areas of delivery for a successful test phase, attending and chairing various project meetings and general test progression duties which will involve static, functional, regression and potentially automated test execution.
· As the Test Analyst the successful candidate will be a welcomed and valued member of the Data Management Team, any knowledge or experience in the field will be greatly received, when specifying future deliverables with the Business Analysts. The team ethic is very open to suggestions from all members.

Role Dimensions

· The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience in the following areas:
· Test Analysis, execution and reporting.
· Defect tracking and reporting.
· Project lifecycle – both waterfall and agile.
· Testing and project tools such as Quality Centre and JIRA.
· Testing web services, various UI and mobile interfaces
· Asset Management Business.
· Demonstrable database experience with strong SQL.
· Ability to query data extracted in multiple formats, for example XML.
· Be self –motivated, good communicator and motivated but able to manage/support and work within a team
· Other skills and experience that would be useful are:
· Past experience of working in a global environment with distributed business users and IT resources.
· Experience of working with Vendor Project Teams.
· Automated testing.

Observation of Internal Controls

· The jobholder will adhere to, and be able to demonstrate adherence to, internal controls and will implement the Group compliance policy by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures.

This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.

· The jobholder will implement measures to contain compliance risk across the business area. This will be achieved by liaising with Compliance department about business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimising relations with regulators.
