Job description



As a Data Specialist, here are some of the tasks you might be asked to do:

·
Design, build and support ETL pipelines and data models

·
Participate in improvement to tooling and development patterns on Group Cloud environment (Google).

·
Data Specialists in our team are expected to own the end to end delivery of software from analysis through to release to production and support. We work in small iterative cycles and typically work on number of projects at a time.

·
Data processing using Python, SQL, MongoDB

·
Manage infrastructure on Google Cloud infrastructure for Global Research

·
Web Development and Data visualisation using D3 and HTML5

Qualifications :

Technical Knowledge:

You should have practical and theoretical knowledge of basic data analysis:

· 
Data munging (joining, aggregating, filtering, pivoting,..)

· 
Data quality analysis (missing values, extreme values)

· 
Visualisation (appropriate and clear)

· 
Python knowledge is essential for this role

· 
Design and operation of ETL pipelines and data models

· 
Data transfer– REST APIs, SFTP, S3

· 
Data processing – Pandas, NumPy, PySpark, SQL, concurrency, memory optimization

· 
Data storage – Object, file and database storage

· 
Cloud infrastructure – GCP, Docker, Bash, scheduling, infrastructure as code, networking and security

· 
Software Engineering – Automated testing, CI/CD, git, stash

· 
Web deveplopment - HTML, D3, Javascript.

The successful candidate is likely to have worked with these technologies as a minimum:

Python, GCP, D3, SQL, HTML5, Javascript, Java

Non-Technical Knowledge:

· 
Structured approach to problem solving and requirements analysis.

· 
A good team player, able to work closely with other team members and users both locally and remotely

· 
Effective Collaboration: Carefully listening to management, data scientists and IT to establish their needs

· 
Creative Problem-Solving: Approaching data organization challenges with a clear eye on what is important; employing the right approach/methods to make the maximum use of time and human resources.

· 
Intellectual Curiosity: Exploring new territories and finding creative and unusual ways to solve from data management problems.

Business Knowledge:

Experience of working in a front-office environment in an investment bank is advantageous but not essential.

Experience of working in the FX domain is advantageous but not essential

Other:

Previous experience doing a similar role.

Worked in a global team

· 
Experience in a large enterprise
