Job Description:

   

Network/Systems Administrator with experience in supporting network, virtualization & storage infrastructure. This person will be responsible for maintaining a network with thousands of devices & hundreds of virtual machines. Primary focus will be to keep systems operational 24x7 to enable engineering to provide high level support to Customers.  Responsibilities will also include installing & configuring laptops, servers, network devices & creating / maintaining virtual machines. Knowledge of HPE network hardware is a plus.

 

 

Responsibilities:

·         Independently resolves highly complex technical issues within a given technical area.

·         Partners with members of a team and other IT teams as appropriate; leads technical team while resolving key issues.

·         Identifies potential escalations and proactively alerts management; leads and escalates through L3.

·         Proactively searches for issues and provides solutions to prevent problems from occurring in area of responsibility including patch management.

·         Independently reviews and manages highly complex and high risk changes to critical business systems.

·         Provides mentoring and guidance to other technologists or developers.

·         Ensures the service level management process is adhered to by continuous review with partners and business users.

 

 

Required Skills:

·         Proficiency & experience of working in various virtualization technologies is required. This includes VMware & Hyper-V.

·         Knowledge of Veeam backup & replication is desirable.

·         Knowledge of storage area networks. Experience & knowledge of HPE SAN solutions - LeftHand SAN & Nimble is highly desirable.

·         Experience in installing & configuring various operating systems – windows laptops, server operating systems - Windows, Linux (CentOS, ubuntu) is required.

·         Experience in installing & maintaining various server hardware is required.

·         Working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Group policies & clustering.

·         Knowledge of networking technologies – TCP/IP, switching & routing is required. Experience of working / supporting such technologies is highly desirable.

 

 

Knowledge and Skills:

·         Strong verbal and written communication skills and technical leadership skills. Strong experience with infrastructure environments (e.g. operating system, hardware, data center, security, network, voice, end user and webserver related applications).

·         Strong experience with business IT applications (e.g. supply chain, customer relationship mgmt, HR, finance).

·         Experience in scripting and/or programming language is highly desired.

·         Exhibits a high level of initiative and integrity.

·         Strong problem solving, priority setting, and collaboration skills. Good organizational and analytical skills.

·         Possess creative ability, consulting skills, leadership qualities, credibility and self-confidence. Influencing skills and ability to work effectively in a geographically dispersed team. Demonstrated technical leadership skills. Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and solutions.

 

 

Education and Experience Required:

·         Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience and a minimum of 8 - 10 years of related experience.
