About the Position

Global Engineering has the responsibility to invent, design, specify and deliver product and process technologies to make Goodyear's Business Strategies achievable. This department engineers and integrates new technologies to support new products and increased manufacturing capability. It also provides direct and timely support to plant production, engineering, maintenance and energy conservation. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the design and/or specification, development, installation, commissioning and on-going support of Tire Manufacturing equipment in our plants globally. 

 

This individual will work with other mechanical, electrical and chemical engineers, as well as engineering contractors and suppliers. The individual will also work closely with Corporate Plant Planning and the Regional Engineers during project scope development phases.

 

Primary Responsibilities

·  Provide design layouts and equipment designs using AUTO-CAD Inventor.
·  Lead the development, specification, estimation, procurement, validation, installation and commissioning of processes and equipment. 
·  Support Vendor and project management.
·  Travel to manufacturing locations to install and commission equipment; travel to vendors for design reviews and acceptance testing of equipment. 
·  Provide troubleshooting and resolution of equipment performance issues.
·  Coordinate activities to ensure that global standards are adhered to by equipment suppliers and manufacturing partners

 

Required Education and Experience

·  Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science/Technology/Engineering/Math), with consideration for Mechanical Technology degree
·  4-6 years of experience required, preferred manufacturing experience
·  Key contributor on cross-functional assignments, projects, and/or other divisional and planned initiatives for improved self-development.
·  Experience working with vendors and specification, validation, installation and commissioning of manufacturing equipment.
·  Preferred experience participating in a cross-functional support team environment

 

Skills and Abilities

·  Highly motivated self-starter who has the ability and desire to complete capital project commitments.
·  Working knowledge 3D software design
·  Ability to function well in a team environment.  Ability to interface cross-functionally with Goodyear and non-Goodyear associates globally from a variety of backgrounds.
·  Excellent communication (verbal and written) and technical documentation skills required.
·  Demonstrate and instill positive attitudes on peers.
·  Demonstrate ability to plan and lead meetings at work group level.

·  Willingness to travel 25-30%, domestically and internationally, and work occasional off-hours is required.
