Role Summary/Purpose

Balance overspeed of rotors, commissioning/driving overspeed facility, in process electrical testing of rotors testing mechanically and electronically control gear and trip gear. This role will also assume the responsibility of a hands-on lead Test Engineer within the Department.
Essential Responsibilities

·  Perform in process electrical testing for all generator products in accordance with the relevant process specifications and technical instructions 
·  Prepare and issue all test certificates and test results. Liaise with engineering/project manager to review test results 
·  Rotor overspeed instrumentation preparation, calibration and installation process 
·  Operate the test facility, monitor and test system parameters 
·  Commission, set, adjust and test to specification, turbine governor’s. (acceleration, speed & emergency) 
·  Commission, set, adjust and test to specification, turbine hydraulic actuators. (High and low pressure) 
·  Commission, set, adjust and test to specification, turbine main oil pumps & relief valves. 
·  To set adjust and test ‘V’ – Mag to specification. 
·  To check turbovisory tracks conform to specification 
·  To commission, set or adjust and test steam turbine components in accordance with the appropriate specification and quality plan. 
·  To supervise/advise fitters during installation, testing, rectification and removal of components from the test facilities. 
·  reparation, balancing and off setting of 3&4 critical rotors including conducting thermal stability runs and relevant electrical tests 
·  Liaise with project management and customer for witnessing tests 
·  Plan, organize and perform comprehensive maintenance activities of overspeed facility including calibration system and issuing of permits to work  
·  Review manufacturing plan, identify, organize and co-ordinate equipment and tooling required for upcoming tests to ensure availability. Review procedures and specifications and ensure engineering requirements are fully understood 
·  Assume responsibility as hands-on lead for the Test department 
·  To act according to the regulatory requirements of those bodies to which the organizational unit wishes to be accredited 
·  To act according to defined Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety instructions, including general and company own rules. 
·  To undertake any other duty and responsibility as may be required by the Line Manager

Qualifications/Requirements

·  Knowledge of rotor dynamics, vibration analysis, measurement trains, balancing of generator rotors, commissioning overspeed facility 
·  Understanding of overspeed facility operation and driving overspeed facility 
·  Knowledge of electrical testing rotors 
·  Plant maintenance knowledge in process electrical testing
