Role Summary/Purpose

The Quality Coordinator at the GEAR Center in Amarillo, TX, will be responsible for performing quality Control Activities in the repair shop on current jobs. Your responsibilities will include identifying defect parts in components during dis-assembly stage and performing quality checks on both finished goods and received goods.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Quality Coordinator at the GEAR Center, you will:

·  Perform visual and dimensional inspection of all the incoming components from the wind farms or suppliers
·  Be able to perform standard Quality Control checklists and measurements to drawing specifications in the repair shop
·  Must be willing to make / aid in creation of processes and checklists
·  Proficient in the use of Metrologic precision tooling for inspection (micrometers, 3D measurement/laser scanning devices, CMM)
·  Perform Electrical Testing of remanufactured parts, as well as perform Final Test Run of the part
·  Interface with Engineering personnel to make quality disposition decisions
·  Occasionally required to work in tight areas
·  Follow all EHS guidelines and policies
·  Must be able to prioritize tasks
·  Must possess excellent organizational, analytical, communication and management skills
·  Self-motivated to work with minimal guidance and willingness to learn from others

Qualifications/Requirements

·  High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of quality control, inspector or coordinator experience

Desired Characteristics

·  Ability to interface with Engineering to review quality disposition decisions
·  Proficient in the use of Metrologic precision tooling for inspection (micrometers, 3D measurement/laser scanning devices, CMM)
·  Experience with full load testing of gearboxes.
·  Ability to be GE certified or equivalent certification for: Overhead Crane Operator, Fork Lift Driver, Aerial Lifts, advanced rigging and perform critical / non-routine complex lifts
·  Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a working environment that changes daily to keep incoming / outgoing materials moving to meet customer and manufacturing requirements
·  Ability to Read and understand mechanical layout, engineering drawings
·  Ability and willingness to work various shifts and overtime on short notice, in order to meet business needs
·  Ability to use basic to complex computer software. Computer skills including (but not limited to) using Email, creating & managing spreadsheets and using web-based software tools to manage tasks, 3D imaging and measurement equipment.
·  Highly driven, able to respond quickly to urgent situations and able to multi-task
·  Strong “can-do” attitude and ability to think outside of the normal process to streamline activities
·  Supervise Gearbox Load Test procedure, monitoring temperatures, vibrations, oil cleanliness and pressure.
·  NDT class 2/3 GE certified or equivalent certification for FPI and MP inspections.
·  Apply UT technique to identify potential defects as required.
·  Possess thorough knowledge and ability to use all tools associated with assembling units according to required specifications: such as lifting equipment, wall and overhead cranes, Hydraulic and electric Torque tooling/wrench, other tools including but not limited to impacts, drills, magnetic drills, drill press, angle grinders, sanders, basic hand tools (manual and pneumatic), measurement tools, calipers, oil flushing equipment
