Role Summary/Purpose

The Quality Control Chemist is responsible for in-process and release testing of injectable pharmaceutical finished products. The Chemist participates in the development of new procedures and is involved in validation studies as they pertain to analytical testing. Work is technical and specialized, requiring accuracy and attention to detail.
Essential Responsibilities

• Perform required analytical testing on in-process and final products using HPLC, FTIR, ICP-OES, UV/VIS, Liquid Scintillation and Gamma Spectrometer 
• Participate in the performance of investigations of out-of-specification results 
• Track and trend analytical data 
• Participate in validation projects requiring analytical support 
• Contribute to process improvement through Lean and 5S 
• Assist in the stocking and supplying of the QC lab 
• Perform visual inspection of finished product

Quality Specific Goals: 
1. Knowledge and understanding of acceptance activity requirements for incoming, in-process, and final inspection requirements (as associated with job type/position) to ensure the product conforms to its specification and out of specification items are properly handled

2. Basic knowledge and understanding of Stop Orders, Concessions, CAPA, Calibration, Preventative Maintenance, Material Identification & Segregation, documentation configuration control practices; documentation & disposition of non-conforming material, and Good Documentation Practices requirements, Part 11 compliance as associated with this job type/position

3. Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position 
 4. Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines 

5. Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required

Qualifications/Requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related science field 
2. Ability to speak, understand, read and write in local language 
3. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite 
4. Availability for nights and weekends as needed 
5. Ability to distinguish color 
6. Attention to detail to promote accuracy in technical and specialized work 
 7. Ability to lift 25lbs

Desired Characteristics

1. Waters Empower Experience or similar software 
2. Equipment experience with HPLC, ICP, UV/Vis, FT-IR 
3. Experience working with radioactive material including the use of gamma spectrometers, Ion Chambers and liquid scintillation analyzers 
4. Visual inspection experience 
5. Working knowledge of USP 
6. Experience in an FDA regulated QC environment 
7. Background in Math or Chemistry
