Role Summary/Purpose

The Power & Drives Systems Field Service Engineer role is considered a mid-career role within the business and expected to be in individual of broad technical capability across the range of product mentioned. The successful candidate is will perform a wide range of engineering tasks and ensure proper installation, service and commissioning of products and services. Provides maintenance, breakdown emergency support and remote troubleshooting.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Power & Drives Systems Field Service Engineer you will:

·  Perform troubleshooting activities at site locations to diagnose problems, determine appropriate resolution, and implements corrective actions
·  Develop requisite documentation to execute work e.g. commissioning procedures, maintenance procedures daily logs etc
·  Perform installation and commissioning activities at customer site locations
·  Be capable of working unsupervised and leading small teams
·  Execute on site project management and technical leader duties to resolve customer issues and provide customer satisfaction
·  Under the direction of a senior engineer performs a wide range of engineering tasks to ensure the technical integrity and proper installation and commissioning of GE drive systems, switchgear, transformers and generators
·  Develop presentations and provides training and instruction to customers on equipment operations
·  Coordinate additional opportunities to serve the customer with the customer service team, parts, other FSE’s, repair services, sales, and product engineering teams
·  Advises the customer of recommended upgrades, parts, and service opportunities to improve customer productivity and sell GE parts and services
·  Coordinating maintenance activities for the customer and planning for inspections
·  Provide support to engineering teams working on customer CMU’s projects

·  Provide support the bidding process for the customer CMU’s projects 
·  Identify new opportunities & development of effective offerings to improve in-service equipment reliability / availability
·  Promotes sales of maintenance services
·  Performs other related engineering tasks to facilitate proper commissioning and customer satisfaction
·  Provides on call support in response to customer calls for service. Ensures appropriate response and service is provided to customer
·  Complete timely service reports and other administrative requirements
·  Support business growth opportunities and marketing campaigns

Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university (or associate degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university with a minimum 7 additional years of related industry experience)
·  Minimum 5 Years experience in heavy industry environment
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

·  Willingness to travel up to 90%
·  Willingness to learn new product

Desired Characteristics

·  Familiar with integrated control schemes with switchgear, protection, PLCs, HMI and Drives
·  Field Service and Commissioning experience with GE Power Conversion product drives (MV3000, MV7000 or SD7000)
·  Minimum 10 years of field service and/or commissioning experience
·  Ability to execute increasingly complicated assignments, which require considerable engineering skill and creative ability and independent judgment
·  Possess detailed knowledge, competence and expertise with installation and commissioning tasks and services
·  Strong computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Office applications
·  Ability to learn and follow defined departmental policies, procedures and practices
·  Excellent communication skills
·  Good report writing skills
·  Good personal organisational skills
·  Displays strong interpersonal skills and is accessible and approachable
·  Anticipates customer needs and measures processes and performance through the customer’s eyes
·  Builds loyalty and commitment and can energise teams through inclusiveness and connection with people
