Role Summary/Purpose
TThe Record to Report (R2R) Aviation Controllership Team is part of the GE Aviation organisation. The R2R Aviation Controllership Team is in charge mainly to support the regular activities which related to the closing of the books of GE’s Aviation affiliates across countries in Europe. Services scope include preparatory, closing and support activities in process areas (owned by 3rd party service providers (i.e.: Genpact)),
Essential Responsibilities
· Provide operational R2R support for the trial balance of one or multiple ledgers in GE Aviation Europe
· Work with multiple external service provider (Genpact teams) and other finance functions (TAX, STAT) to ensure highest quality
· Own specific closing processes based on the agreed scope, which are not dedicated to Genpact teams and other finance functions and need to be performed in the controllership team
· Co-ordination with business Finance stakeholders on closing activities and financial reporting routines by leveraging communication skills
· Review material Manual Journal Entries
· Learn how to provide ad hoc reports to HQ, local controllership team and other finance functions
· Perform monthly and quarterly account reconciliation according to GE Policies
· Complete Balance Sheet analysis during and after the close on a quarterly basis gaining knowledge of end-to-end process and Business activities
· Development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for operational and transactional processes that impact the financial statements, including closing, reporting and analysis
· Execute financial processes as designed, including identification of exceptions requiring escalation
· Identifies simplification and process improvement opportunities
· Monitor effectiveness of specific internal controls, including tests of effectiveness and design
· Provide support on various R2R related projects (e.g. simplification, system changes, new policies implementation)
· Coordinate and drive simplification initiatives
Qualifications/Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or other business related field or equivalent knowledge or experience
· Basic understanding of US GAAP, GE GAP, Statutory, and GE procedural policies and is able to apply these in practice
· Working knowledge of financial processes and linkage to financial statements.
· Able to interpret and apply standard operating procedures around financial processes and controls
· Understands key flows of Finance information required for the business and the related IT systems that manage it
· Capable of forging strong relationships with finance and non-finance colleagues and work effectively with others
· Proven analytical skills
· Highly organised with demonstrated ability to meet commitments within strict deadlines
· Ability to quickly adapt to changes
· Able to work and influence in a matrixed organization
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Proficiency in English language; a second European language is an advantage
· Skilled Excel knowledge
Desired Characteristics
· Accounting experience preferably in a multi-gaap environment (SSC)
· First-hand closing experience with Oracle, SAP or another ERP
