Role Summary/Purpose

The Mechanical Design Engineer (m/w/d) is responsible for the design of Additive Manufacturing machines including relevant sub-systems and components. The role requires well-founded technical understanding with focus on function, design for manufacturing and cost, and includes interfacing with other Engineering and Supply Chain teams.
Essential Responsibilities

·  Mechanical design of Additive Manufacturing machines, machine sub-systems and machine components using 3D CAD

·  Execute the design, analysis or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures and product requirements

·  Development from the inquiry to the conceptual stage on to series production and delivery both in New Product Introduction (NPI) projects and sustaining engineering

·  Strong focus on functional requirements, design for manufacturing, serviceability and cost

·  Making sure designed products meet customer requirements and are suited for serial production

·  Clarification of design requirements with Systems Engineering and Technology teams

·  Supporting Supply Chain and Service teams

·  Creating, checking and administration of drawings and documentation of technical data consistent with engineering policies and procedures

·  Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments

·  Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues

·  Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews

·  Close cross-functional collaboration, both internally and with external partners

Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Staatlich geprüfter Techniker Maschinenbau or equivalent knowledge and experience

·  Proven experience in mechanical design engineering

·  Experience with 3D CAD and PLM System

·  Experience in Finite Element Analysis advantageous but not mandatory

·  Experience in pneumatics and hydraulics engineering advantageous but not mandatory

·  Proficient in German and English both oral and in writing
