Role Summary/Purpose

An opportunity has arisen for a Lead Mechanical Engineer / Structural Analyst within the Avionics business. The position is required to meet increased demand for support on existing and new projects. The team is responsible for the mechanical design of electronic equipment for civil and military applications. In this role you will provide mechanical design leadership and structural analysis support to product designs as part of a multi-disciplinary project team.
Essential Responsibilities

The Lead Mechanical Engineer / Structural Analyst shall demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for mechanical engineering. In this role you will utilise your experience and expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

·  Conduct structural analysis on electronic enclosures for aerospace applications using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, process, and program requirements
·  Provide technical leadership to other engineers and designers on assigned projects
·  Interpret written requirements and specifications, assisting in the creation of derived requirements from customer and internal documentation and scope a design to meet them
·  To manage within your team, the creation of technical data generated for assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures, e.g. part and assembly drawings, parts lists, weight management plans, tolerance analysis, definition of materials and finishes
·  To define any engineering tests deemed necessary to de-risk a design and provide engineering support during environmental testing
·  To compile evidence from analysis, test and design data to verify designs against the requirements
·  Participate as a presenter or reviewer of designs in technical and program reviews including customer and supplier meetings
·  Manage own workload and assist project management in reporting of status and progress to agreed plans
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or similar subject, with relevant experience in an engineering analysis role or equivalent knowledge or experience
·  Experienced in conducting structural analysis of lightweight structures
·  Experience with ANSYS or another structural analysis tool
·  Competent in the use of MS Office suite of software
·  In depth knowledge of the product development lifecycle
·  Good problem solving and solution building skills
·  Good written and verbal communication skills with experience of presenting designs

·  In addition to strong background in structural analysis the preferred candidate will also have experience in technical leadership and product design
·  Experience of leading others to meet engineering project deliverables and the ability to manage own and teams workload on multiple tasks
·  Experience with Siemens NX
·  Experience in the physical design of electronic equipment
·  Knowledge of materials and finishes as appropriate to aerospace equipment
·  Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and process for lightweight electronic enclosures
·  Ability to estimate and manage own workload on multiple tasks
·  Willing to extend work hours on occasion to suit project demand
·  Suitable experience in other industry sectors will be considered
