Role Summary/Purpose

Generator Stator Wind will develop and implement new and improved methods of stator wind in the GE large generator manufacturing facility located in Schenectady, NY. Your responsibilities will include, implementation of new workstations, assembly of bars in stator core, end winding system assembly and manufacture, measurement systems for dimensional analysis of wound stator assemblies, and joining and induction brazing of connection rings.
Essential Responsibilities

As the Manufacturing Engineer - Generator Stator Wind, you will also cross-functional develop and manufacture the implementation of improved stator winding systems and methods, unit material handling, and a variety of other aspects of core manufacture. A major portion of this role is helping the shop develop more cost effective strategies to lower handbook cost. This will be achieved through process improvement, training and subsystem redesign. Position includes providing manufacturing technical support for solving difficult issues in production cells as well as the establishment of new workstation procedures and training.
In addition, you will:

·  Act as advance manufacturing engineering expert for Stator Wind Manufacturing Operations in GE large Generator operations in Schenectady NY 
·  Become familiar with existing processes, designs, documentation, and procedures 
·  Collect data on and statistically characterize individual process capability 
·  Identify and execute projects to improve existing process quality and lower cost 
·  Work with materials engineering, design engineering and the shop to develop improved end winding systems and improved implementations in stator wind designs and processes 
·  Work in a cross functional team environment to implement a high impact deck of projects to reduce stator wind cycle and handbook hours by 30% 
·  Work with the stator wind Technical Leader (TL) to develop and execute a plan to drive step change advancements in stator wind manufacturing processes 
·  Understand Ex-GE Alstom end winding systems and wind processes 
·  Document and leverage best practices back to Special Programming Language (SPL) designs 
·  Provide competitive assessments of stator wind systems 
·  Investigate new technologies for stator wind 
·  Recommend applicable technology to business leaders for possible program development funding 
·  Participate in concurrent engineering and design of new generator products supporting all New Product Introduction (NPI) tollgates 
·  Establish, document, and maintain Design for Manufacturing (DFM) guidelines for engineering use compatible with current manufacturing capability 
·  Evaluate new products for manufacturability per established DFM guidelines 
·  Advanced manufacturing support of NPI and New Technology Introduction (NTI) designs for new generators and processes 
·  Initiate and project manage capital equipment projects that support new product designs, factory capacity additions, and quality improvement goals. Typical project scope involves the development of specifications, supplier management, purchase, installation and qualification of the manufacturing equipment 
·  Provide technical support to sourcing as needed 
·   Provide documentation and training to shop floor to ensure seamless new product execution 
·  Work with shop to develop manufacturing methods, schedules, and documentation for improvements 
·  Help the shop Implement operator training plans 
·  Apply lean methods to equipment and material handling designs to reduce waste throughout the production process 
·  Design, procure and implement tooling and fixturing to support rapid setup changes 
·  • Troubleshoot issues with equipment and processes
Qualifications / Requirements

Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university 
·  Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing operations or manufacturing engineering positions
