Role Summary/Purpose
The Machinist will service center and will set-up and operate manual and CNC machining equipment in machine shop department in order to drill, face, saw, turn, mill, grind, thread and bore various parts, materials and assemblies to precision tolerances and specified finishes.
Essential Responsibilities
As the Machinist, you will:
· Set-up and operate a variety of machines performing various machining operations from simple to very complex using manual and CNC (Computer Numeric Control) machining equipment (including, but not limited to mills, drills, grinders, lathes, horizontal / vertical bore)
· Selects and grinds tools in accordance with hardness, machine capability, and properties of material to be machined
· Use of a variety of measuring devices
· Use of a wide variety of associated shop equipment and tooling
Qualifications/Requirements
· High School Diploma / GED
· Minimum 3 years of experience operating machining equipment such as boring bars, vertical boring mills, horizontal boring mills, and or other equipment used to support repairs of steam / gas turbines and generator equipment
· Minimum 2 years experience reading blueprints
· Minimum 1 year experience using precision measuring instruments
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability and willingness to work 2nd shift
· Ability and willingness to work overtime, various shifts, holidays and weekends, as required
· Ability and willingness to wear personal protective equipment

Desired Characteristics
· Associate's Degree in a technical discipline or Trade School Degree from an accredited college, university or trade school
· CNC M and G code programming experience
· Large CNC Lathe or Horizontal Boring Mill (HBM) or Large Vertical Boring Mill (VBM) experience
· Experience with operating at least two of the following smaller CNC machines without direct supervision: Small HBM, Vertical Turret Lathe (VTL), Farrel Lathe
· Accomplished skills in their trade with experience on Power Generating Equipment
· Experience using the metric system
