Role Summary/Purpose

The Machine Design Safety Engineer will ensure personnel and environmental hazards are mitigated to a safe level throughout the entire product life cycle for the GE Additive team. The role will place priority on detailing Product Safety, Machine Design and Regulatory Engineering processes. You will also serve on the GE Additive Product Safety team and be responsible for Product Safety Engineering activities for US-based GE Additive Product Lines and Services.
Essential Responsibilities

·  Lead documentation and Regulatory processes for application across all additive technologies and sites as required

·  Apply the Product Safety Engineering strategy and processes to drive consistent quality, competitiveness, and operational perfection at global level

·  Serve as Product Safety Engineering focal for US-based products and services

·  Launch proactive product safety reviews in support of both new product introduction and existing product fulfillment activities according to GE Additive Internal Procedures

·  Coordinate the investigation of field safety incidents and root cause analysis by working with multi-functional teams, as required

·  Ensure all aspects of product safety are addressed within the constraints of operational effectiveness, time and cost throughout the product life cycle

·  Lead assigned projects including establishing project plans, resources and work to identify critical paths with risk mitigation plans to ensure successful execution of projects
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Safety, or Industrial Engineering from an accredited university or college

·  A minimum of 5 years engineering experience in Aerospace, Machine Tools, Industrial Equipment, or a related field (Including Experience in product safety risk assessments and product liability risk assessment)

·  ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT(S):
·  Ability and willingness to travel globally as required

Desired Characteristics

·  Technical experience in a manufacturing setting

·  Experience with machine design compliance & safety standards

·  Experience in conducting compliance, safety and risk assessments

·  Knowledge of Safety Integrity Level standards and implementation (IEC61508, IEC61511, IEC62061)

·  Knowledge of Performance Level (ISO13849)

·  Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
