Role Summary/Purpose

As part of the Industrialization Function within the SMS Global Supply Chain Team the Industrialization & Lean Process Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining and improving the manufacturing methods, work instructions and processes for the Business’s range of products. This can be during the NPI phase or on existing product range production lines.
Essential Responsibilities

Scope & Summary of the Role & Execution Responsibilities:
• Responsibility for developing, implementing, maintaining and improving manufacturing methods, work instructions and processes for a range of Products utilizing strong Lean Manufacturing methodology and in line with defined design / quality standards.
• Provide technical expertise to the design teams in Product development cycles and contribute as required in DFX reviews.
• Lead engineering evaluations, statistical analysis and corrective actions supporting process improvement efforts.
• Evaluate, troubleshoot and problem-solve Automated production equipment, fixtures, tools, materials, and processes and provided critical front-line technical support to the existing production areas.
• Participate in technical design review meetings and co-engineering meetings and other multi-functional review meetings.
• Train and coach the SMS team and potentially local sites in any new Manufacturing solutions and processes.

EHS responsibilities:
• Responsibility for the ergonomic assessment, design and implementation of manufacturing workstations and manufacturing solutions used within SMS in line with GE regulations.
• Take reasonable care of your own safety, your colleague’s safety and the environment. Comply with GE Health and Safety Policy and Environment Policy.
• Identify and evaluate EHS risk in own area and implements practical measures.
• Participate in hierarchical / team safety visits and contribute to EHS improvement initiatives
• Actively participate in defining corrective actions when work is unsafe or when an uncontrolled risk is observed.

• Comply with GE quality procedures and processes
Qualifications/Requirements

Educational requirements & experience:

Knowledge/Experience
• Experience in implementing Lean Manufacturing Solutions and designing production processes and implementing into and with manufacturing teams.
• 5 years’ experience in an electronics manufacturing environment
• Understanding of Quick turn / New Products Introduction processes
• Knowledgeable in IPC, and ISO Standards
• Experienced in assembly process evaluation, control & validation and the use of Six Sigma,
• Experience with Printed Circuit Board assembly processes, SMT equipment, aqueous cleaning and wave solder processes would be beneficial.

Qualifications:
• Degree Level or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Leadership potential and good organizational skills
• Project Management skills and high level of communication skills
• English (Fluent) - essential
• Competent in the use of Microsoft Office application (Excel, Word)
• Ability to train others in use of equipment and process techniques.
