Role Summary/Purpose

Join a robust environmental, health, and safety team at a GE Aviation site on the cutting edge of new technology and the first of its kind in the U.S. as a co-op! You’ll gain invaluable knowledge from highly skilled professionals in the field of EHS, and specifically Industrial Hygiene, that will prepare you for a future as an Industrial Hygienist.
Essential Responsibilities

·  Perform Industrial Hygiene sampling and analysis

·  Perform various surveys for physical hazards and assist with countermeasures for engineering solutions

·  Assist with site management of gas detection equipment including calibration and maintenance

·  Coordinate employee engagement activities with environmental, health, and safety topics

·  Establish, plan, and schedule sampling strategies for assigned projects

·  Perform respiratory fit tests for various types of respirators

Qualifications/Requirements

·  Degrees accepted: Industrial Hygiene or other EHS related

·  Attending a full time matriculated and nationally accredited baccalaureate or graduate program

·  Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA off a 4.0 scale

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT(S):

·  Dependable transportation to and from work

·  Due to access to export-controlled information, you must be one of the following:

·  (1) US Citizen or national

·  (2) US permanent resident

·  (3) Person granted refugee status

·  (4) Person granted asylee status or Beneficiary of legalization through an amnesty program, or

·  (5) other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3))

·  Expected graduation date of 2021 or beyond

Desired Characteristics

·  Knowledge of the main elements of Industrial Hygiene

·  Knowledgeable on the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) exposure guidelines

·  Knowledgeable of OSHA Subpart Z

·  Ability to work with and effectively communicate with people at all organizational levels

·  Ability to accurately interpret Industrial Hygiene sampling results

·  Knowledgeable on various Industrial Hygiene field collection, survey and analysis equipment
