Role Summary/Purpose

Maintain and improve automation control systems integral to the production process.
Provide recommendation for improving plant operations based on technical information. Understand, troubleshoot and make correction to Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) and control software. 

Essential Responsibilities

·  Lead by example in all GE initiatives including EHS, HR, Six Sigma, Quality, and computerized maintenance management.

·  Complete inspection of instrumentation and verification of manufacture calibration, onsite calibration, and testing.

·  Perform control valve & element inspection and troubleshooting, repair and rebuild, replacement and installation according to engineering standards, best practices and manufacture recommendation.

·  Responsible for the completion of inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on electrical and instrumentation systems in a 24-hour PSM facility.
·  Perform commissioning and startup activities including, instrument loop inspection, loop check, configuration, calibration and testing. Mechanical installation, functional checking, stock testing of final control elements.

·  Safety driven mentality with dedication to process safety systems integrity and availability.

·  Analytical equipment expertise, troubleshooting, calibration, documentation for both monitoring and supervisory systems (mass-spectrometer, CEMS, O2 Combustibles, NOx, infrared, conductivity and gas chromatograph).

·  Practical knowledge of Motor Starters, MCCs, VFD, and 480-volt three phase systems.

·  Support and maintenance of DCS, SIS, and PLCs based systems.

·  Dedication to documentation updates and creation of plant specific maintenance task including calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting procedures. Update and follow plant instrument scope P&ID’s, loop diagrams, cable scheduling, and instrument lists sheets.


·  Read and interpret P&ID’s, equipment manuals, electrical schematics, instrument loop diagrams and other specifications to determine the repair method on failed components.

·  Install, replace or repair process control instrumentation such as transmitters, controllers, control valves, flow meters, etc.

·  Execute preventative maintenance, testing and calibrations as required by the Quality and Process Critical Instrumentation programs or other established procedures

·  Read and interpret equipment manuals, electrical schematics, and other specifications to determine the repair method on failed components.

·  Ability to perform precision maintenance in the installation and alignment of equipment, utilizing safe rigging methods using hand or power tools.
 Correctly and accurately complete required paper work, correctly documenting all maintenance actions, parts and time.

·  Ability to prioritize daily work load and maintenance requirements based on safety, equipment critically, quality and production schedule requirements.
 Team focused, steps-in and willingly assist other crafts and operations department as required to ensure equipment is ready to meet productions schedules.

Qualifications/Requirements

·  10+ Years of hands-on maintenance experience as an I&E maintenance technician in a manufacturing environment.

·  Ability and willingness to work a rotating shift schedule.

·  Must qualify for and utilize specialized personal protective equipment as required for the position including arc flash, respirator, fall protection etc.
·  Have good mobility, with the ability to climb stairs and ladders and occasionally required work at heights.
·  As required ability to lift weight up to 50lbs.
·  This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment

Desired Characteristics

·  Associate degree or Certificate from a two-year college in instrumentation technology or a related course of study.
-
·  Familiar with HART communication protocols, IEC standards, ISA standards, PSM sites and process safety management, MOC procedures, and electrical process.
-
·  Ability to use calipers, micrometers, amp meters and gauges while performing maintenance on plant equipment.

·  Understand and interpret requirements located in the NFPA 70e, NFPA 79 and ISA84

·  Takes initiative to meet target schedules, actively and continuously working to improve processes and procedures.

·  History of working effectively with co-workers, leaders, and other employees.

·  Demonstrated PC proficiency.
·  Technical acumen – aptitude to
understand complex manufacturing and design requirements, as well as the
operational processes associated with chemical plants & equipment;
demonstrated ability to work in a Process Safety Management (PSM) environment
