Essential Responsibilities

·  To assist in the Mechanical design and analysis of superconducting magnets, gradient coils, and other sub-components used in MRI systems  
·  Thermodynamic and heat transfer analysis, including determination of heat loads, heat budgets and test verification. 
·  Thermal & Structural design 
·  Verification and Validation of mechanical design, including supporting engineering builds and testing  
·  Reliability analysis of components and system Manufacturing support 
·  Failure analysis of mechanical components  
·  Development of service tools to support maintenance & safety of magnets 
·  Preparation/presentation of design analysis reports and part/assembly drawing reviews 
·  Support manufacturing lean initiatives

Qualifications/Requirements

·  BS Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering Major 
·  Sophomore 
·  GPA: 3.0 Overall with minimum 3.5 in core studies  
·  Hands on hardware experience 
·  FEA and/or CFD experience with ANSYS (preferred) 
·  Ability to work with cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams.

The successful candidate will: 
·  Join the magnet/gradient engineering team, centered in Florence, SC, USA. (the world's largest plant for superconducting magnet production), part of Global MR Science & Technology. 
·  Participate in all phases of the product development life cycle, from concept and product
specification generation, to manufacturing ramp up, optimizing functionality, manufacturability, reliability, serviceability and cost. 
·  Be involved in both new product design and support of existing products with manufacturing, sourcing and service.  
·  Participate in product safety, cost out, cycle time reduction and quality enhancement projects. 
·  Support and comply with the quality and safety goals of GE Healthcare (GEHC).
