Role Summary/Purpose

·  As a System Modeling & Design Technologies engineer, you will develop state-of-the-art capability in multibody simulation, system dynamics, system optimization, & design methods, enabling our customers to benefit from cost & performance differentiated products, bankable quality, & speed to market.
Essential Responsibilities

·  In this role, you will have responsibilities in 1 or more of the following areas:
·  Multi-body simulation (Simpack) - Develop, implement, & maintain state of the art multibody simulation capabilities.
·  Develop/enable, verify, & validate new features in the multi-body simulation to improve model fidelity
·  Support segments as the new multibody simulation capability is released in NPI
·  Probabilistic Design - Research, develop, & deploy advanced probabilistic & reliability analysis methodologies to understand & take advantage of component & wind turbine margins to improve LCOE.
·  Develop wind turbine/component reliability analysis methodologies for critical failure modes, both time-variant & time-invariant (e.g., FORM analysis, fracture mechanics, etc.)
·  Develop, integrate, & qualify uncertainty quantification techniques needed in GE’s next-gen turbine & farm designs. Lead measurement &/or validation campaigns to gather field data to support uncertainty assessment.
·  Contribute to service cost assessment strategy & cost optimization through reliability-based inspections assessments
·  System Dynamics – Advance the state-of-the-art tools that enable prediction & design guidance for system dynamics & stability related issues.
·  Develop methods/tools to assessing global wind turbine instabilities in design
·  Develop methods/tools to determine root cause for unexpected vibration in the field
·  System Optimization - Develop & execute on system value optimization methods or opportunities across the wind energy system (from turbine or component customization to farm/application space).
·  Load/Design Methods - Research, develop, & deploy improved wind turbine loads & design methods & processes to drive accuracy, fidelity, & value optimization.
·  Analyze method opportunities in the IEC-61400-1 Wind Turbine standard. Present and defend new methods to certification bodies to support certifications
Qualifications/Requirements

·  B.S. in Mechanical, Wind, Systems, or Aerospace Engineering from accredited university (or equivalent)
·  Demonstrated experience or specific education in 1 or more of the areas listed above.
·  Demonstrated & strong ability to clearly communicate complex/technical information, & to work effectively in global cross-functional teams
·  Ability & willingness to travel 4 weeks per year

·  EU Work Permit

Non-national candidates are responsible to know the minimum documentation requirements to be able to be contracted in country: NIE- Social Security Affiliation Number in Spain (NAF) and Bank Account in Spain. They must be in possession of them at the time of start hiring. GE will not sponsor this requirement.
Desired Characteristics

·  The following desired characteristics cover a broad range… it is desired the candidate would at least 2 of these.
·  Education or expertise developing & using aero-servo-elastic simulation software (conventional like Flex, Bladed, or commercial multi –body dynamics like SIMPACK, ADAMS, HAWC2)
·  Programming skills for tools & custom studies (Python, C/C++, R, Tableau, MATLAB)
·  Education or expertise in probabilistic design, reliability & risk analysis, & failure probability assessment.
·  Education or expertise in system dynamics & stability
·  Education or experience in developing & improving load & design methods & driving them to commercial impact. Working knowledge of IEC61400-1.
·  Micrositing experience, wind resource assessment, or wind modeling experience
·  Advanced optimization algorithm education or experience
·  Education or experience in field validation and co-simulation
