Role Summary/Purpose
The Engineer in Product Definition will work on 3D model creation for GE Gas Turbine Accessory (GTA) systems like Mechanical systems (Enclosures, Barrier walls, Inlet & Exhaust), fuel system (Gas and Liquid), Oil system, Atomizing air, Cooling water, Fire protection, Heating & Ventilation, On-base piping, Cooling & Sealing air, Air extraction systems etc. He/She will also be responsible for creating 2D drawing/PMI for all above said, ensuring the Quality per GE standards and delivering on-time
Essential Responsibilities
- Build definitions of parts, sub-assemblies and assemblies in the form of 3D reusable models and PMI/drawings with all the information needed for manufacturing within expected quality and schedule.
- Develop layout for piping skids with optimal routing and tube layout for easy installation and maintenance.
- Generate project documentation including equipment and piping arrangement drawings, skid and platform layouts, piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), Schematics, Datasheets and Bill of materials.
- Ensure all interface characteristics between components are established and agreed upon by the designers of mating parts
- Work within the guidelines of applicable GE Policies & Procedures, Engineering Standards, Product Definition Operating Procedures, Specifications and Commercial Standards
- Follow the change control process & tag the 3D models and part definitions in Product life cycle management (PLM) system
- Support vendor for manufacturing related queries and ensure the design deviations does not impact the function of the component/system
- Continuously challenges self-skills in functional area and stays current with industry developments in one’s field of expertise
Qualifications/Requirements
- BE/B.Tech Mechanical Engineering with 3 to 5 years experience
- Min 3 years of experience in Unigraphics/TEKLA.
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Ability to work in teams and achieve targets.
- Strong interpersonal skills
Desired Characteristics
- Basic knowledge on Power plant components and its functioning.
- Gas turbine accessories knowledge.
- Knowledge on codes and standards on piping components (like ASME, API)
- Knowledge of piping layout.
- Knowledge of structural shapes and sections
- Working knowledge in PLM/Teamcenter Engineering
- Working knowledge in MS Visio and AVEVA E3D
- Green belt certified (GE employees only)
