Role Summary/Purpose

You will be a key member of a core team of ten+ people who are responsible for enhancing, evolving, and supporting large on-premises highly-available Electricity Market and Energy Management systems. The team includes power systems, database, software, and optimization engineers.
Essential Responsibilities

We are looking for a person who will enhance and lead our DevOps practices and infrastructure.

Responsibilities include:

·  Maintaining and evolving our on-premise Maven / Jenkins / Nexus build infrastructure and related systems while evaluating and deploying new tools

·  Maintaining and evolving our Ansible infrastructure

·  Evolving our on-premise software pipeline infrastructure to include complete chain of custody security

·  Helping guide our customer to adopt the same infrastructure as code tooling as we are using in-house. Supporting the deployment and operation of our product at the customer site.

·  Migrating our build and delivery pipeline to container based images.

·  The Electricity Market system and its sister Energy Management system are large and complex, are highly available, and are subject to high security standards – a curious person will never be bored. There is lots of room for growth.
Qualifications/Requirements

Basic Qualifications

·  Bachelors of Computer Science AND two years of professional experience

Eligibility Requirements

·  Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job

·  Must be willing to work out of an office located in Redmond, WA
Desired Characteristics

·  You are great at helping others understand and adopt new DevOps skills and practices – both within your work team and with the customer.

·  You like working on mission critical software and systems

·  You are detailed oriented and expect software systems to be organized and automated.

·  You are comfortable and good at chasing down and resolving software issues.

·  You have experience working with on-premise virtual machines versus only working in cloud-based tools and ecosystems.

·  Your curiosity drives your learning. You naturally work to extend your sphere of knowledge of the greater system within which your components are a part.

·  You excel in an environment where everything may not be known. You ask good questions to help the team and the customer resolve the unknowns.

·  You enjoy working within a team and supporting fellow team members.

·  You are comfortable planning and completing your own work. You can run with a list of tasks to be done, but also know when to ask questions.

·  The idea of working on a system that helps to “keep the lights on” across a large swath of the United States intrigues and motivates you.

Technical Expertise

·  You have experience in Git, Maven, Jenkins, Nexus, VMware, and Ansible

·  You have experience in Linux based systems.

·  You have a good understanding of TCP/IP networking.

·  You are a good communicator and are able and willing to clearly communicate high level requirements and designs to co-workers and customers who may not share your depth of knowledge.

·  You have good judgment and initiative to drive our products and standards forward.

·  If you do not enjoy writing, you at least recognize it as a necessary evil.

·  You have professional experience programing in Java.

·  You may have experience in the following:

·  SQL

·  Spring

·  Hibernate

·  Modern web client (TypeScript or JavaScript)

·  Restful APIs

·  CIP Standards

·  Containers and Kubernetes
