Role Summary/Purpose

Working closely with the Product Management team you will be a key decision maker for agile software teams, responsible for our software vision & roadmap progressively elaborating the detailed behaviour for commercial software releases for a product organisation. Part of a small analyst team working in an engineering group based in Cambridge UK, who work on GE’s Geospatial solutions for the Utility & Telecom's industries - including the market leading GE Smallworld GIS serving 1000+ customers
Essential Responsibilities

·  Previous experience as a Business Analyst/ Product Owner working within an Agile software team

·  Ability to influence and lead a cross functional software team, covering software development, testing, documentation and release activities

·  Proficiency in defining User stories and Agile requirements models focussing on value to the customer

·  Maintaining a product backlog of ready to play requirements for Agile teams, elaborating acceptance criteria and accepting them within a development sprint

·  Strong oral and written communication skills
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or STEM subject and/or equivalent experience

·  Relevant analytical background, with preference to operating within an Agile Software Engineering environment.

Desired Characteristics

·  Previous experience of working in, or with, utility companies (Electric or Gas Distribution and Transmission), specifically supporting the network engineering and operational systems

·  An appreciation of GIS technology and standards, practical experience would be an advantage

·  Experience of working in a commercial software product business providing COTS solutions

·  Focus on the “whole product” user experience covering software, help, documentation and materials to aid in an effective market introduction

·  Track record in working in software product organisations

·  Competency with Personas and customer archetypes

·  Good understanding of product development and delivery lifecycles
