EY Tax Technology and Transformation – Quantitative Services – Staff

Tax Technology and Transformation offers services to companies in response to the impact of existing and emerging technology, including the growing data burden that many businesses face, driving efficiencies to create a cost-effective tax function and the need to understand how to make data an asset.

The underlying objective of the combined offerings is to help businesses navigate the digital age of tax transparency alongside new trends in tax compliance and tax audit methods, as well as helping to solve the most pressing challenges that businesses face. Tax Technology and Transformation is composed of the following services:

· Digital tax transformation
· Tax applications-as-a-service
· Tax data and improvement
· Tax analytics and reporting enhancement
· Emerging tax technology, including robotic process automation (RPA), artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, cloud solutions, data lake development and business intelligence innovation
· Tax technology program mobilization
· Custom tax technology application development and deployment
· Tax technology strategy and road mapping
· Direct and indirect tax systems implementation and configuration
· Post-transaction (M&A) tax function operational services
· Tax operating model transformation, including process improvement, risk and controls
· Tax function assessments

The opportunity:

We are growing our Quantitative Services team within Tax Technology and Transformation. Our team’s mission is to develop and implement tax solutions using a combination of both technology and tax technical skillsets while helping our clients design and implement solutions that enhance and streamline their tax function. Our team members have backgrounds in both tax and information technology and are adept at leveraging technology solutions to help implement tax solutions and streamline client processes. Our team members work side-by-side with clients and subject matter professionals to develop and incorporate solutions that solve some of our client’s most difficult tax issues.



Key responsibilities:

·
Work on a variety of tax engagements, developing and incorporating technology solutions to address complex tax issues and support our client’s tax function

·
Develop custom tools and workflows based upon evolving federal and state regulations

·
Develop client-specific applications to facilitate the collection and analysis of complex and large amounts of data

·
Work with clients’ internal tax and IT departments to design and build appropriate technology solutions based on their unique business environment and reporting requirements

·
Gain experience working with commercial capitalization/depreciation systems, such as Sage Fixed Assets – Depreciation (FAS), BNA Fixed Assets, and fixed asset modules within Oracle and SAP (and numerous other systems)



Skills and attributes for success:

· Taking ownership of assigned tasks and monitoring them until completion, including documenting requirements, configuration, testing, debugging, project profitability, and tax systems and process configuration
· Identifying ways to automate manual tasks using existing financial or tax systems and emerging technologies
· Consolidating tax data to make analysis and planning more efficient
· Improving reporting capabilities to enhance our clients’ ability to evaluate risk and capitalize on opportunities
· Supporting project team members to help ensure timely completion of deliverables

To qualify for the role, you must have:

· A bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Taxation, Tax Technology, Management Information Systems, or Computer Science or related field
· CPA license or membership to a state Bar or approved technical certification or progress to attaining those mentioned
· A strong interest in technology and its use in business processes
· Excellent communication and business writing skills
· A natural flair for problem solving and an entrepreneurial approach to work
· Strong organizational and time management skills, with exceptional client-serving consulting skills
· Demonstrated ability to capture and synthesize business requirements
· Desire to work within diverse teams and to develop leadership attributes

Ideally, you will also have at least one of the following:

·
Experience in one or more of the following: Alteryx,Microsoft Power BI suite (including Power Pivot, Power Query, Power View and Power Map),SQL Server, Microsoft Visual Basic, Visual Basic for Applications, MS Access

· Knowledge and experience in the design and development of databases (specifically SQL Server)
· Experience with developing ETL solutions using SSIS or other tools
· ERP experience, including SAP and/or Oracle
· Experience managing large, multidisciplinary projects that impact tax (e.g., ERP implementations, tax co-sourcing engagements, finance transformations)

·
Practical or academic experience with commercial capitalization systems, such as Sage Fixed Assets – Depreciation, BNA Fixed Assets, and PowerPlan

·
Practical or academic experience in standard process analysis tools, process mapping, and flow chart diagramming

·
Practical or academic experience designing and developing databases

·
Ability to quickly understand complex tax concepts and a strong interest in data modeling and analysis
