This Brand, Marketing & Communications, Assistant Director, position (“writer”) will oversee the editorial development of thought leadership campaigns and client materials focused on a company’s growth and Mergers and Acquisition (M&A) strategy.

 
· 
Work with the Americas Strategy and Transactions (SaT) Markets and Brand, Marketing & Communication (BMC) Leaders to create world-class marketing campaigns that align with the SaT business priorities to achieve strong business results

· 
Manage relationships with key SaT stakeholders across the Markets and BMC organization and within the business, establishing sponsors and advising subject matter resources for appropriate programs

· 
Execute thought leadership plans with a focus on delivering results and business outcomes that build brand, expand relationships and ultimately drive revenue with clients and prospects

· 
Provide appropriate input to the development of firmwide programs

· 
Provide guidance, information and support to enable successful deployment of relevant programs

· 
Support methods for driving innovation and change across the Markets and BMC organization

· 
Take an organizational-level view of implications; manage competing forces and drive understanding, motivation and stakeholder value

· 
Maintain up-to-date knowledge on Markets and BMC, service line and sector issues, trends and long-term implications for EY’s brand strategy

· 
Work closely with the Americas Origination Hub sectors and team members to develop, write publish and distribute meaningful thought leadership

· 
 Lead and manage the editorial review process for origination hub’s thought leadership, articles and other content

 

Key Responsibilities:

· 
Contribute to the editorial design of all major campaigns – data-led surveys, proprietary thought leadership (TL), byline articles, sector-focused content and client materials ensuring they support the firm’s verbal identity principles and communicate services, concepts and best practices powerfully

· 
Work with partners to bring greater clarity and cohesion to their thought leadership development

· 
Lead the editorial review process and provide continual feedback to subject matter experts/partners to make sure thought leadership is clear and compelling, and also consistent across sectors

· 
Act as lead copywriter/copy reviewer for thought leadership undertaking independent research or working with EY resources and third parties

· 
Develop digital content such as web page text and social media posts and blogs

· 
Assist other team members in conceptual design of TL based programs sharing best practices

· 
Contribute to the development of service descriptors, value propositions developing copy for print and digital media

· 
Look for opportunities to tell stories and present information in creative ways including via graphics and charts, data, photos and video

· 
Develop scripts for webcasts, leadership presentations, videos and internal communications

· 
Act as project manager for certain thought leadership campaigns

· 
May manage team of high-quality freelance copywriter resources

· 
Oversee editorial quality of 3 rd party suppliers (writers, research organizations)

·  Ad hoc copywriting requests
· 
Work with BMC colleagues to bring thought leadership through the approval process and have distributed/promoted internally and externally

 

This role requires an experienced team player with a strong understanding of EY’s service offerings and buyers in the context of the corporate finance, M&A and private equity marketplace.  The role will be required to build strong relationships and collaborate closely with other leaders within the Markets and BMC teams as well as relevant client-serving professionals across functional areas and sectors.

Understanding of sophisticated economic and financial material, particularly related to mergers and acquisitions; ability to make technical content accessible and appealing to a C-suite audience

High-level diagnostic and substantive-editing skills: Ability to identify and remedy organizational flaws in texts and to sharpen the focus and clarity of complex arguments.  Excellent line-editing skills and attention to details

Ability to quickly understand EY’s business, clients’ issues and buyers’ agendas across sectors and geographies globally

Demonstrate good understanding of the TAS business how go-to-market strategies help achieve objectives

To Qualify:

Education:
· 
Bachelor’s degree in related area of study (or equivalent experience)

Experience:
· 
Seven plus years of related experience in business writing and editing as described above

· 
Good communication abilities, which are required to connect the dots within Markets, BMC and beyond

· 
Ability to influence and build collaborative relationships in Markets, BMC and beyond

· 
Ability to challenge views and perspectives without harming his or her own acceptance within Markets, BMC and beyond

·  Background in journalism a plus
·  Experience managing complex global programs
· 
Experience working as part of diverse and virtual high-performance teams

· 
Ability to influence and build collaborative relationships with business stakeholders
