Position Summary:

The person filling this position will be responsible for supporting development and implementation of EY public policy initiatives. He or she will work closely with the Americas Director, Public Policy, in the Office of Public Policy (Americas Director). This position is needed to support OPP’s expanding scope of work with EY firms throughout the Americas, including with EY service lines beyond Assurance.

Essential Functions of the Job:  

·  Assist the EY Americas Area Office of Public Policy (OPP) in the development and execution of EY’s public policy strategy. 
·  Monitor, research, analyze and report on global and jurisdictional public policy and stakeholder perspectives of interest to EY and the accounting profession including a particular focus on developments regarding key regulators such as the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). 
·  Forge effective professional relationships within the organization across multiple functions including Service Lines, Office of General Counsel, Risk Management and Communications.
·  Participate in profession and other external forums in a manner informed by and consistent with EY perspectives to gain insights on key developments that benefit the team and its public policy efforts.  
·  Support the Americas Director in optimizing interactions with and further develop relationships with public policy stakeholders, including through close monitoring of policy and regulatory developments.  
·  Assist the Americas Director in coordination and management of the EY Americas Public Policy and Regulatory Network and our Country Managing Partner program.  

Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:

 
· 
Must be skilled at monitoring regulatory and public policy issues that affect the audit profession and related developments within the Americas and globally. Also must be able to identify important developments and trends, including with respect to EY’s professional services offerings.

· 
Must be able to communicate about these policy developments to various audiences and help to develop appropriate responses.

· 
Must be able to appropriately tailor communications to different types of internal and external audience. 

 

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

   
·  Experience in drafting briefing material and presentations on policy issues at executive level with demonstrated technical writing skills.
· 
 An understanding of and passion for the US policy and regulatory environment and experience monitoring and communicating about complex policy subject matters.

· 
Ability to identify and analyze public policy developments, put them into context and identify/communicate key concerns and insights. 

· 
Ability to work concurrently on multiple tasks from multiple supervisors, on varying topics

· 
Strategic thinking skills and experience addressing complex challenges.

· 
Agility to pivot to emerging issues and tasks of an urgent nature. 

Supervision Responsibilities:

 

·  Ability to work independently and in consultation with others but with limited direct supervision.  
·  This position reports to EY’s Americas Director, Office of Public Policy. 

 

Other Requirements:

·  Some travel required. 

Education:

·  A Bachelor’s degree. 

Experience:  

·  5+ years of public policy experience, preferably at federal agency or other equivalent regulatory/policy experience.
·  English speaking with language proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese desirable.
