JobSummary:

The Splunk Operations Support Analyst willhelp support the run state and normal operations of the Splunk CoreInfrastructure. The role performs operational and Level 3 support for Splunkdaily activities.  Responsibilitiesinvolve the daily management of incidents, operational maintenance,Dashboard/Alert/report creation and support, and proactive/preventative analysis of the Spunk application

  
EssentialFunctions of the Job:

·  Implements and maintains Splunkinfrastructure and configurations.
·  Participates in systeminstallations, upgrades/patches, configuration and tuning.
·  Creates and maintain reports,scripts, programs or other tools within the Splunk system to maintainsystem health and integrity.
·  Integrates Splunk with a widevariety of data sources that use various protocols.
·  Thoroughly documents systemconfiguration and changes.
·  Monitors all system, applications,hosts, data ingestion, forwarder status, system health, etc.
·  System management for clustering,deployment, licensing, and other server functions.
·  Collaborates with other teams toestablish optimally functioning processes for system optimization,incident management, development practices, etc.
·  Researches and troubleshoots themost complex technical issues causing the unavailability of systems orapplications for users and provide expertise for resolution.
·  Collaborates with vendor andinternal support areas.
·  Documents the cause and resolutionof outages.
·  Responds to automated alerts on thehealth of systems.
·  Confirms that steps are taken toanticipate operational problems and that incidents are identified andresolved in a timely and efficient manner.
·  Communicates operational supportissues on an ongoing-basis.
·  Manages application enhancements toimprove performance and stability.
·  Develops implementation plans fordealing with more complex requests for changes, evaluates risks tosystem availability and suggests improvements

 

 

 

 

Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:

·  The role requires a strong analytical acumen and solution orientation to influence and guide technical production support efforts to avoid potential financial and operational risks to the firm and EY’s customers.

·  The role possesses high-level critical thinking skills and the ability to quickly identify and understand where there are gaps in the support model and communicate or propose changes to the technical strategy to drive operational readiness measures.

·  The role’s insight and proposed actions should strive to be strategic, look beyond ‘stop gap’ measures and seek to drive improvements to the technical operation and support of the Splunk infrastructure in a manner that balances the firm’s security needs with the business impact and benefit. 

·  The role requires the ability to deal effectively and efficiently with escalations and time sensitive, difficult situations/people under pressure particularly in the area of restoration of services

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

·  Strong Linux/Unix background with scripting for automation and troubleshooting.
·  Advanced knowledge of logging and troubleshooting.
·  Experience with administration of Splunk Search Heads, Indexers, and Forwarders.
·  Experience with Splunk ES: Enterprise Security.
·  Experience with Python Scripting
·  Strong experience with logging tools such as syslog-ng
·  Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and oral.
·  Strong documentation and organizational skills.
·  Excellent written and verbal skills.
·  Possesses the proper time and incident management disciplines to self-direct improvement initiatives and to align activities throughout the incident life cycle
·  Adapts appropriate communication styles to the style of others.  Develops rapport and remains calm under pressure.  Builds relationships across a matrix, geographically and culturally dispersed organization utilizing proper oral and written English communication skills
·  Maintains a working knowledge of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) to recognize appropriate aspects in the Incident, Problem, Change processes and improvements

 

 Supervision Responsibilities:

·  The individual on Associate level will always be supported by a senior colleague or the Lead
·  Event Configuration Technician L2 who guides and mentor them on a day-by-day basis for tasks that need to be performed.

  
Other Requirements:

Flexible Hours – due to the global nature of the role it may require the individual to attend calls either early or late in the day to accommodate colleagues in different time zones.

  

Job Requirements:

Education:

A Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience

  
Experience:

Over 3 to 5 years working within Information Technology

Demonstrated knowledge in the Splunk Enterprise.

Log onboarding, building custom apps & dashboard on Splunk.

  

Certification Requirements:

·  Splunk Admin or above Certification preferred.
·  ITIL Certification is preferred but not required
