ENGIE are recruiting for Winter Service Drivers x 2, to be based at Doughty Road Depot, Doughty Road, Grimsby DN32 0LL. These are permanent full-time roles, working 28 hours per week. This role offers a minimum of £11.61 per day whilst on standby, and a minimum call out of £78.73 per gritting call out.

Working on a rota which covers the 12-hour period between midday and midnight (evening shift) and midnight to midday (morning shift). The hours worked each week will vary dependent on the number of gritting call outs whilst on standby


General Overview:

The successful candidates will be part of a team that has responsibility, under delegated powers, to ensure that the Local Authority discharges its statutory duty for winter service to ensure the highway is safe for all users of the network and the wider community, having regard to core objectives of safety, serviceability and sustainability. The position is a seasonal post typically from the beginning of November until the middle of April each year, although it may be extended to account for seasonal changes and weather patterns. This role reports into the Highway Supervisor.

Main Responsibilities/Duties Include:

· 
Drive gritting vehicles to spread salt on the highway (with a snow plough fitted during adverse weather conditions) during both normal working hours and out of hours.

· 
In addition to driving the gritter, duties will also include loading the gritter with salt at the start of the route and Cleaning the vehicle upon completion of the route.

· 
Required to work an alternating shift pattern between midnight to midday or midday to midnight, including weekends and bank holidays.

· 
Must be able, whilst on shift, to attend the Operating Centre at Grimsby Town Centre within 60 minutes of being called out.

· 
Required to drive specialist winter service vehicles and equipment, subject to license, training and competency, including fixed bodied gritters, demount gritters, and loading shovel.

· 
Required to operate ancillary equipment such as snow plough attachments and gritting trailers.

· 
Familiar with drivers’ hours legislation and be able to complete accurate records, including drivers hours books and vehicle defect books.

Qualifications or Required Experience:

·  Applicants will hold a LGV Cat C (HGV Class 2) licence
·  Applicants will hold full CPC qualification with drivers card to support the qualification
·  Applicants should preferably be trained to NPORS Telescopic handler or similar.
·  Applicants should preferably hold a City and Guilds 6159 Winter Service qualification, although training will be provided to suitable candidates.
·  Applicants must be able to work methodically and systematically and maintain accurate records.
·  Applicants must be self-motivated and be able to work unsupervised.
·  Applicants must be able to demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development.
