The department

The Vibrations & Mechanic department is well known for its competence in complex problem solving for rotating machinery and other power plant components. Our department monitors online more than 100 turbine shaft lines all over the world and is regularly called for on-site dedicated measurement in case of problems.

In order to increase the activities related to the identification of problem root causes or design assessment, Laborelec is looking for an engineer with experience in Finite Element Modeling (FEM). This experience will be among other used to challenge the design of failed components, to perform a fitness for purpose analysis of cracked components or to find the cause of failures.

Your mission

·  Together with other team members, you are responsible for the realization of Finite Element Modeling (FEM) and possibly Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
·  You bring added value in the interpretation of the results and propose solutions
·  You perform analysis in case of detected incidents to identify the cause and provide solutions
·  You participate to the remote condition monitoring of power plants main shaft lines

·  You have a mechanical engineering degree with experience with FEM calculations
·  You have an ability to simplify problem solving based on conservative hypothesis
·  An experience with CFD is a plus
·  You are fluent in English and French or Dutch, with a willingness to improve
·  You are customer oriented, with good communication skills
·  You are willing to travel within Belgium and Europe as well as for assignments outside Europe for short term missions (typically from a few days to one week)
·  You are a team player, with an ability of working on your own
·  You take initiatives and have the ability to develop synergies both internally with other departments and with external partners
