Mission

We are looking for an expert in robotics with background in mechanics or electro-mechanics; who will reinforce our starting Robot team.

Remote controlled and automated testing are emerging in the field of maintenance & inspections. Thanks to new technologies, manual labor can be automised and unreachable areas can be inspected by drones, crawlers and climbers. Our goal is to take these technologies and render them 100% safe, and upholding quality standards as defined by our customers, to provide a valid alternative for already existing more conventional approaches.

To better streamline our activities in this field, we created a new team at Laborelec focused on robotic (inspection) activities. In a first phase this is organized in an incubator team to allow for more liberty to develop and augmented support for different teams and experts where needed.

Your role is to complete the team with your expertise in robotics, more specifically on the (electro-) mechanical side. You will be responsible for the translation of the needs of the application into a working specs for suppliers and develop with partners a robot meeting all technical, safety and quality requirements.

You will assist the non-destructive testing experts in integrating a non-destructive testing module with the driving mechanism for on-site inspections in nuclear and renewable energy production, but also for our clients in the (petro-) chemical and other industries.

For this you can rely on your colleagues in the incubator, experts in I&C, IT and nondestructive testing, as well as the experts from other teams such as our materials competence center, our I&C team or our AI experts.

Responsibilities

·  In support of a project team or as lead, execute services in your domain of expertise.
·  Analysis of the customer's needs and technical context of the project
·  Proposal of robotized and/or tele-operated electromechanical solutions, to accomplish the desired tasks
·  Writing of technical specifications describing the systems
·  Identification and selection of partners / sub-contractors
·  Technical follow up of the project and partners
·  Reception and Testing / qualification of the system and its implementation
·  Provide adequate customer assistance and training of operators
·  Create an internal network of colleague-experts in other teams that will help you grow your competence and complete the projects you are working on.
·  Support other teams with your expertise in services of their own. This can include international trips or on-site activities at nuclear power plants which allows you to keep your expertise up-to-date.
·  Support the team lead in the definition of the strategy for your robotics team. Supply him with information of techno watch, feedback of projects and clients or your own insights.

Your profile

·  You have minimum a bachelor degree in electro-mechanics
·  You have at least 5 years' experience in the industry, preferably in a company developing or integrating robots for industrial applications.
·  You are a technical generalist able to integrate different technologies
·  You have a network of partners / suppliers or able to build one
·  You are articulate and assertive.
·  You are customer oriented and an out-of-the-box thinker to find a solution fitting your clients need
·  You are a team player who naturally shares knowledge and experience with colleagues and asks for help when appropriate.
·  You are fluent in English and French or Dutch, with a willingness to improve where needed.
