Global Energy Management (GEM) is one of ENGIE's Business Units. We deliver services in supply and logistics management, asset management, risk management, market access management, while contributing to the market understanding, design and efficiency and developing market solutions to accelerate the energy transition.

Organization:

Position open within the Quantitative and Innovative Solutions (QIS) team in
Brussels. This team will be part of the future Expertise Center Quantitative
Research & Modeling
of GEM, whose mission is to ensure the optimal
implementation of Pricing, forecasting and optimization models and methods in
GEM.
Projects will be mainly driven by Short-Term Power Business Platform.

Role:

The role of the Quantitative Analyst Optimization is to combine in-depth business knowledge, strong analytical skills and appetite for coding in order to contribute to the Expertise Center mission, with focus on optimization models.

The Quantitative Analyst Optimization will report QIS Brussels Host Leader in the current organisation and to the R&M EC Leader and SPaaS BP Leader when O&G is implemented.

Main Activities:

The daily responsibilities include:

·  Designing and implementing front office models and prototypes, in particular related to the economical and physical optimization of power assets and decentralized flexibilities
·  Liaise with key stakeholders in Short-Term Power, IS, Engie Impact, etc.
·  Seek out innovative solutions
·  Technical support to end-users
·  Leading projects
·  Developing cross-expertise pricing / forecasting / physical optimization
·  Documentation of the front office models and tools Work location:

Brussels, ENGIE TOWER

Travels:

Occasional travels (mostly to Paris).

Education and professional background:

·  University degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Sciences, Financial Engineering, Statistics, Physics
·  2 to 5 year experience of working in a power related job Hard skills:

·  Strong mathematical and analytical skills
·  Good understanding of energy business and power markets
·  Operational research and software programming skills (Python, GAMS or other modeling language)
·  Ability to explain and convey messages about complex issues
·  Experience with data science techniques Soft skills:

·  Analyzing
·  Practical thinking
·  Taking initiative
·  Conceptual thinking
·  Teamplayer Languages:

·  Fluent in English
·  Knowledge of French or Dutch is a strong plus
·  Programming languages (Python), GIT, Microsoft office suite
